Making a Day out of iLife

What to do when you've a day off and your favorite software company has produced a new version of it's digital productivity suite? Why make a day out of using iLife! Apple
Computer has released iLife '05, an upgrade that is supposed to allow for greater management of your digital needs, from movies, to photos, to music, to ways of outputting that stuff onto DVD's.
I made regular use of iLife '04, and of all of the digital Apps as soon as they became available over the years, and this new version, although it would have to wait for me to arrive home to use, hits all of the necessary marks for a digital geek like me.
I'm in the midst of making a video capturing the year in the life of my best friend's daughter, a project I want to complete as soon as possible so that they can enjoy watching the events they filmed over the course of the year. The movie will eventually make it's way onto a DVD, which I can't wait for, since the new suite includes exciting new menus that make for a more professional looking project. And I also am getting all of my digital pictures together to create some handy-dandy photo books of all of the journeys 2004 took me through. So much to do, so little time. So hard to make everything work the way you want it when you have a billion ideas in your head at once.
Not everything is perfect at first shot. I'm having limited success with the apps so far, but I've only been using them over the past day. After meticulously importing over 5000 photos, iPhoto decided to malfunction on me. I am going to have to try to resucitate it, as it was looking like a great program before it crashed. Actually, I think it's a memory issue. My laptop is three years old this week! It needs an extra boost to make the latest work the greatest! I'm anxious to order my photo books, too.

The previous version of iMovie helped me make a great early version of the video I was working on, but I accidentally deleted a vital file, and decided to go back to using the Pro-sumer version of the movie maker's software, Final Cut Express, instead. I'd advanced so far beyond iMovie, that it was actually not weildy enough! They've upgraded Final Cut Express, too, but I still have Disney trips to pay off!

Garage Band has worked the best so far. This is the music making application. I made a quick tune for inclusion in my movie. I'll be posting some of my favorite pieces for your aural enjoyment soon as I remember to.

And as I said, my peek at iDVD was cool. It looks like I'll have a lot of fun using that, and I've already picked a menu for the movie I'm working on.
That's my iLife for now. Let's see what happens with continued use. And if I can ever get that iPhoto to come back.
