Press Release:

Tony Farley, creator of Beautiful Places In HD for ON Networks, is raising $25,000 for at-risk and underpriviledged youth through Bay Area Wilderness Training's Climbing For Kids fundraiser. He will be podcasting and blogging the entire experience in HD. Everything from training climbs and fundraising events, to all five climbs will be filmed and released on iTunes, the Climb For Kids website (www.climbforkids.net), and YouTube. The combining of podcasting, blogging, and fundraising fror causes is a unique undertaking and will only grow in the future. "Kids that experience wilderness do better in school," says Farley, "are less violent, and see a larger picture than the narrow life they experience on city streets or in video games. Wilderness is the answer folks." Farley is seeking donations from individuals as well as from the outdoor industry. All support will be announced and honored on the Climb For Kids Podcast as well as the website and blog.

Participants in the Climbing For Kids Fundraiser pledge to raise a set amount of money that goes directly to BA and climb one of five mountains, Mt. Whitney, Mt. Shasta, Mt. Rainier, The Grand Teton, and Mexico's Pico de Orizaba. Farley intends to climb all five and raise $25,000 for Bay Area Wilderness Training (BAWT).

"As a high school teacher," says Farley, "I know that it is getting harder and harder to do anything outside the classroom with students. There just isn't any money for it. Bay Area Wilderness Training helps teachers like me bring our students outdoors." BAWT trains youth leaders in wilderness leadership skills as well as wilderness first aid. They also maintain gear libraries where youth leaders can check out the needed tents, sleeping bags, and backpacks for camping. BAWT's latest effort is to provide vans to transport youth on their trips.

Farley is accepting donations large and small, from family members and friends to corporations both local and national. BAWT is a project of the Earth Island Institute a 501(c)3 corporation and all donations are tax-deductible. For more information, visit the Climb For Kids Website at www.climbforkids.net
