"The Bridge" with the Chris Lomheim Trio. A classic piano trio in the style of Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett. Recorded in pure, multichannel DSD in a beautiful, classical recital hall, this is a Super-Audio CD for jazz fans who value musical communication and a live feel. This is an AMAZING RECORDING on a performance, communication and sonic beauty level! Five jazz favorites and three originals played by Chris Lomheim, Gordy Johnson, and Phil Hey, three leading players in the Minneapolis/St. Paul jazz community. All tracks are complete takes with no editing. This audiophile recording was made using tube and ribbon mics, Millenia Media preamps, Meitner converters, and DSD editing with the Sony Sonoma. The surround speakers are used simply for hall ambience.
"Jazz Club Live" on the Lifescapes series, Compass Productions. These are available at TARGET in the Kiosks you'll see around in the other parts of the store, far away from the rest of the CDs, DVDs & Videos. This is a SMOKIN' live session! I'm really proud to be on Jeffrey Bailey's production, along with Pete Whitman - sax, Laura Caviani - piano, and the indcredible Kevin Washington - drums.
The Pete Whitman Quintet, The Sound Of Water is also a Hybrid Multi-Channel Disc which plays on All SACD and CD players. Numerous originals by Laura Caviani, Phil Hey and Pete Whitman, plus cleverly arranged standards performed by this outstanding Twin Cities group.
"Call Me When You Get There" by Mary Louise Knutson. This is a super-fine jazz piano trios disc with a lot of MLK originals and some very interesting MLK arrangements of standards. Featured here are drummers; Phil Hey, Marc Rio, Craig Hara and percussionist; Marc Anderson. While attending the International Association for Jazz Education Conference in Long Beach, CA, Knutson was interviewed on KWJL in Palmdale where hosts Loren Dexheimer and Amir Raheem announced that Knutson had won the award for "Top New Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year" for 2001.
"Full Circle" by the Pilhofer Jazz Quartet. Regular CD and SACD recordings available. "Wonderful arrangements... Musical virtuosity... a rare elegance...They have a quality that echoes early Dave Brubeck Quartet or Modern Jazz Quartet, a chamber like quality that seems both classical and fresh. The group is great, distinctive and a joy to listen to." Lowell Pickett - Dakota Jazz Club - St Paul, MN
