There are few things more attractive that getting points in bunches. Once they're in the bank, no one can take them away.
Jr. Titans' coach Dustin DePalma had a Happy Thanksgiving, though the same can't be said for the Jr. Titans opponents over the weekend. The Jr. Titans tightened their grip on first place in the Jim Dowd Division of the South Conference with a 4-0-0 mark, which featured wins over the second-place New Jersey Rockets, and the South Conference powerhouse Philadelphia Jr. Flyers.
Defense was the order of the day, as the Titans gave up just five goals in the four games. An impressive 4-1 win at Ice Line against the Jr. Flyers saw goalie Patrick Murray stop 32 of 33 shots, and deny the Jr. Flyers on all six of their power play opportunities.
Against the Rockets, goalie Matt Deering steered aside 20 of 22 shots in a 5-2 victory. Five Titans got on the scoreboard, including Pete Zarella, Dan Kane, Aaron Kesselman, Louie Balzano and Kriss Lans, who had the game-winner.
Kesselman scored three of the Titans' first four goals in their 8-0 win over the winless Troy Eagles. George Lotito added a goal and two assists.
Lotito was right in the middle of a four-goal, first period outburst that gave the Titans an insurmountable lead against the Walpole Express. Lotito scored two goals less than three minutes apart to break open a tie game. The Titans hung on for a 4-2 win.
