Todd's Experiment
My experiment for the universe is to discover what we can understand about the world and our role in it when we directly focus on that goal, without concern for narrowly defined disciplines or career tracks or credit. I will apply insights from science and experiences from life to construct worldviews that show how our individual lives can be meaningful. My actions and choices will be guided by what best connects me to the magic and mystery of existence. My success will be measured by the percentage of time I spend in that state, the deep questions I address, and the extent to which my life is aligned with the best worldview I have at the time. I will actively fight obstacles to the pursuit of deep meaning, including fear, guilt, narrow-minded thinking, and despair.
Amanda's Experiment
My experiment for the universe is to focus on sharing tools and insights with others to further our pursuit of meaning. I will help people develop the skills and capacity to think, communicate, and act effectively to carry out their individual purposes. Through my actions and words, I will express the value I place on looking out for each other, making a contribution to the world, being tolerant and open-minded, being aware and appreciative of our universe, and being deliberate in how we live. My choices will be guided by what I believe my future self would choose in order to increase our ability to be connected to the magic and mystery of existence. My success will be measured by how effectively my life reflects my values and how much understanding and appreciation I have shared with others. I will actively fight obstacles to the pursuit of deep meaning, including fear, guilt, narrow-minded thinking, and despair.
Send me a short description of the experiment that your life represents, and I'll add it to this list to help others articulate their own.
