Captains Courageous by Rudyard Kipling
The death of a spoiled brat and the birth of a
fine young man.
Rating:
B+Rudyard Kipling does a great job
of piecing together an inspiring story, though it's hardly believable. A rich
snot falls off a cruiseliner and is picked up by a fishing boat who spends the
summer teaching him to be a fisherman in the Atlantic Grand Banks. Through hard
work, and some discipline Harvey transforms from a rich young playboy to a hard
working youth. A must read for early teens especially young men, but Kiplings
use of Glouchester english may make that a tough
pull.
I've
never sen it but this film was made in 1937, a year after Kipling died.
