This is a spoof on the recent trend of shows that portray professional designers who come to the rescue of the stylistically challenged.

This spot was shot in a large interior store with flat fluorescent lighting. Production lighting complemented the environment, but with no intended drama. The challenge from the DP was to "sex it up a bit." Hey, It's a discount megastore . . . The lighting is necessarily bland and the images flat, so the temptation is to boost the color to create an illusion of richness - but it quickly turns garish. My solution was to focus more on contrast, taking a little liberty with the detail in the shadows.
This is my fourth project with this DP.
