"Tooba" - Conceptual Art Finish - Tape to Tape for Film
SHIRIN NESHAT

Tooba is both inspired by Shahrnoush Parsipour’s contemporary novel, Women Without Men and drawn from the story of the Tooba tree in the Koran. Shirin uses the garden (a recurring motif in Persian art) as a symbol for both a spiritual longing for paradise and a quest for political power. The 12-minute video is projected on two screens on opposing walls.

This tape to tape for film project came to me with the look primarily established, but without a finishing touch. The goal was not only to establish continuity within each perspective, but as displayed with each other, side by side.
