One Person Can Make a Difference
10/28/09 02:05
I applaud Moby in his efforts to help such a worthy and needed service such as domestic violence shelters. This seems like a no brainer when it comes to funding these organizations. Why and how can The State of California cut funding to a population that needs it most?
Since this You Tube video was posted, Arnold Schwartznegger reinstated all funding for California's domestic violence shelters
In addition to the You Tube clip, please see Moby's Interview on CNN.
One man DID make a difference this time.

Please Watch This - Finally Someone Has Called Out the GOP!

Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy
Finally, someone has said it. All the hate speach, all the negative images of our President, all the shit about healthcare.......Behind all of that.....RACISM is alive and well and becoming more dangerous in our times. President Carter has summed up what I have been seeing. feeling and reacting to all summer with certain members of the GOP. It makes me sick to be a White person. I am ashamed of my race with people like this.
When you watch these parades, town hall meetings and other hateful venues...just notice one thing....all the people there are white.
You will not see any minorities. Look for yourself.
Think about it.

2009 Lakers Win and Subsequent Riots
06/14/09 23:37

Rioting was alive and in full swing in downtown Los Angeles after the Lakers won the 2009 NBA Championship.
I am happy to see the Laker's win but bewildered about the rioting that follows. I was working across the street from the Staple's Center, (Lakers home court) during the first riots in 2000. Now, almost 9 years later the madly insane mob ruled crowd takes a celebratory event and turns it into a lawless civil chaos.
Pretty embarrassing for Los Angeles if you ask me.
I live about 3 miles northwest of downtown, so I feel pretty safe. Just wanted to let everyone know I am O.K.

This is a great video. The music is horrible though. I think it is going to make some people think about the social injustice the gay, lesbian, bi and transgendered communities have suffered due to upholding Prop 8. I am not willing to become a second class California State citizen. Please donate whatever you can to Courage Campaign.org.
Let me know what you guys think of the TV ad.
I thank all of you for your support.

The California Supreme Court's decision to uphold Proposition 8 is extremely disappointing, but we don't have time to mourn their failure to restore marriage equality to California. It's time to go on offense. To be fearless in our fight for equality. Starting right now. In response, the Courage Campaign will hit the California airwaves with a 60-second TV ad version of "Fidelity" -- the heartbreaking online video viewed by more than 1.2 million people, making it the most-watched video ever in the history of California politics.

Sunday Night Shaker in Greater Los Angeles
05/18/09 00:21

(Click here to watch CBS-2 breaking news reports about 25 minutes after the quake hit.)
Tis the earthquake season in Southern California.
Greater Los Angeles experienced a 4.7 earthquake at 8:39 PM Sunday 5/17/069 ten miles south of downtown L.A. in the City of Hawthorne. The earthquake lasted for about 10-15 seconds. Tigger lives about 13 miles from the epicenter. No reported loss of life or significant damage. This was a baby one.
I wanted to let everyone know that there was no damage or loss of life in late Sunday's earthquake that shook much of Metro Los Angeles (where Tigger currently lives).
The quake was mild. The quake was more of a roller than a shaker. Rollers are good. They usually bring very little to no damage. A roller feels like the earth is shifting very close to how one would feel on a boat.
Shakers are bad. A shaker is an intense up and down motion. These type of earthquakes bring the most destruction and loss of life. The 1994 Northridge Earthquake was a 6.7 shaker.
Just wanted my listeners not to worry about Tigger. I'm O.K.!
Drive Update

Update....The data rescuers were able to get 100% of my files back.
That's the good news. The bad news is how much it cost.
I'll tell you more about that in my next TiggerCast...
Stay tuned.
Equal in Death?
04/02/09 02:43
Take a look at the first part of the video clip above reporting on a high profile "hit and run" accident that occurred at USC over the weekend.
There initially was no reward. Throughout the week the reward as risen from $2000 to $155,000 as of today.
The publicity for this [pedestrian vs automobile] accident has got much press here in City of Angels. Los Angeles is a very large city. It is not abnormal to have up to 6-7 [pedestrian vs automobile] on any given day in L.A. Many of these accidents involve children. The story makes the news and is forgotten in a week or so. These investigations are rarely given any type of large reward for capture. Funerals occur and life moves on. More of these type of "hit and run's" tend to get very little focus in local media.
Are we equal in death?
I'd like to state my heartfelt prayers and condolences to both families. It was very hard to watch that grieving mother on TV. I hope her Faith will guide and ease her pain from a broken heart.
Saying that, I would like to send heartfelt prayers for all the "invisible hit and run's" families whose lost a loved one. Let them not be forgotten.
The second story is unreal and very, very sad. The desperation of a young mother.

Sorry...I Just Don't Have The Time
01/15/09 00:37

I'm sorry guys about not posting a TiggerCast as promised.
To be honest, work has been extremely busy and stressful. January is the official "flu season". Due to this laboratory workload has greatly increased. This means long hours for me.
Not to mention...I can't incur any overtime from my staff and have been under staffed for about 4 months now. The recession is here and it's not pretty.
When I get home...I have just been too exhausted to podcast.
I am going to try to podcast on Sunday.
I'm not making any promises this time.

Day 2 brings more Prop-8 protests in West Hollywood, Westwood and West L.A.
There was a large number of Anti Proposition 8 protesters at the gates of well known Mormon Temple in Westwood. The protesters claims the Mormon Temple has donated thousands of dollars to help fund the "Yes On 8" campaign and instructed all Mormon parishioners to vote "Yes On 8" on Election Day.

I have attached a video news clip from a local L.A. news station of the West Hollywood Proposition 8 Protest Rally.
I plan to podcast about Proposition 8 at length, but at the moment I am still very upset about its passage.
I am happy the Barack Obama won the presidency. Counting down the Bush days. The nightmare is ending.

Can You Believe This!....Obama Bucks
10/17/08 00:00
Altered Obama photo in GOP club newsletter sparks outrage
Illustration shows the candidate's head on donkey's body on a bogus $10 bill that says 'Food Stamps.' Leader of the Upland women's group denies racism, but a state party official decries the image.
By David Kelly, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
October 17, 2008
A Republican women's club in San Bernardino County sent out a recent newsletter with a photo of Barack Obama surrounded by fried chicken, watermelon and ribs, sparking widespread outrage and rebuke from GOP leaders and Democrats.
The illustration shows the Democratic presidential candidate's head atop a donkey's body on a bogus $10 bill referred to as "Obama Bucks." Inscribed on the money are the words "United States Food Stamps" surrounded by stereotypical African American food.
The October newsletter went out to about 200 members of the Chaffey Community Republican Women, Federated, based in Upland.
"I apologize to anyone who was offended because that was not my intent," said club President Diane Fedele. "It was poor judgment on my part. It was strictly an attempt to point out the outrageousness of Obama's statement that he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."
The caption reads: "Obama talks about all those presidents that got their names on bills. If elected, what bill would he be on ????? Food Stamps, what else!"
Fedele said the mailer merely parodied the statements Obama made during a debate last summer and wasn't racist.
"If I was racist, I would have looked at it through racist eyes," she said. "I am not racist, which is why it probably didn't register."
Club member Kristina Sandoval agreed.
"None of us are racists," she said.
The use of watermelon, ribs and fried chicken was innocent, she said.
"Everyone eats those foods, it's not a racial thing."
That's not how club member Acquanetta Warren -- a Fontana city councilwoman and an African American -- saw it.
"My daughter who is 16 was standing over my shoulder when I opened the e-mail, and her mouth dropped wide open," Warren said. "I actually turned the screen away and sent her to her room so she wouldn't see. I don't want to talk to anyone; I want a written apology so the public knows that this is not right and this is not representative of the way Republicans think."
She's known Fedele a long time and is shocked by the newsletter.
"When she didn't see a problem with this, I knew something was wrong," said Warren, who is also vice chairwoman of the California Republican Party for the Inland Empire. "This is an isolated, crazy thing. Our chairman is outraged. We just don't do this."
Indeed, Fedele drew a sharp reprimand from Ron Nehring, California Republican Party chairman.
"Any material that invokes issues related to race is absolutely unacceptable, tarnishes our party, diminishes the hard work of the tens of thousands of volunteers who are working hard every day for our candidates, and must be condemned," he said in a statement Thursday. "This material I've seen inspires nothing but divisiveness and hostility and has absolutely no place in this election, or any public discourse."
His statement also referred to an image on the Sacramento County GOP website this week showing Obama in a turban beside Osama bin Laden with the words: "The difference between Osama and Obama is just a little B.S." The site also exhorted members to "Waterboard Barack Obama."
"I called the chairman and said, 'You need to take that off your website,' and he took it off," said Hector Barajas, spokesman for the state GOP.
Fedele and the others at the Chaffey Community Republican club are volunteers and can't be fired. Aside from politics, they also do volunteer and charity work throughout the community.
Gary Ovitt, a county supervisor and chairman of the San Bernardino County Republican Party, is scheduled to meet with Fedele on Monday to discuss the incident.
"He is disgusted and appalled by it, and he believes it is blatantly racist and offensive no matter what the intent was," said Burt Southard, Ovitt's spokesman. "These are individual clubs. This one in particular may be one of the largest in the state and is one of the most active."
A spokesman for the Obama campaign in California, Gabriel Sanchez, declined to comment.
State Sen. Bob Dutton (R-Rancho Cucamonga) represents the area, and his wife, a Latina, is a member of the club.
"I thought it was unacceptable and a failed attempt at humor," Dutton said. "My wife isn't taking it personally because she knows the people involved. I called Diane and talked to her and told her it was inappropriate. She is a sweet lady without a mean bone in her body. But we all have to be more sensitive."
Democrats weren't as charitable.
"I think it's sad and unbelievable that they can't see how offensive this is," said Carol Robb, head of the San Bernardino County Democratic Party. "People are losing their homes, we are in financial chaos and the best they can do is a caricature of Obama on a donkey's body and food stamps. How out of touch with the 21st century can you get?"

Where I Have Been
06/19/08 01:50

Hey everyone
I know that I have been rather quiet for the last several weeks. Under the radar.
To put it simply, I had another episode of depression. I am now taking a fifth antidepressant and I am starting to wonder if any medication will work. The seizures returned but are gone now. I had to take some days off from work because I started having panic attacks again.
Needless to say, I have not listened to any podcasts as of late. I haven't been doing much of anything except going to work, coming home, going to work. Yeah, I know we all have to do it.
My problem is getting the energy to go to work. I have a very demanding job that sometimes gets the best of me. I work in a very stressful field, health care. As a supervisor, I have to be accountable for errors that my staff makes. Dealing with an angry doctor because you lost his patients blood is not very fun. The high stress and (my own anxiety) wears me down physically, emotionally and mentally. All I want to do when I get home is to watch TV and go to bed.
For the last few weeks I have debated whether I would still podcast. TiggerCast has been a great experience for me, but a takes a lot of time to podcast and put a show together. And I am a horrible perfectionist...so it takes me twice as long as the next guy.
But, to tell you all the truth, I feel creatively bankrupt. It has been hard for me to come up with something new to discuss or bitch about. A lot of this stems from my depression.
Last week I was ready to take my blog down. Something inside me said "wait a minute, you might want to rethink this. So I waited. I would still love to podcast, but I am only probably going to do one a week.
It's summer...everybody pod-fades anyway.
I also need to let you guys know I cannot attend the Podcasting convention in Las Vegas. The week of the convention is the same week my hospital switches to a system wide new EMR (Electronic Medical Record). All managers cannot take time off during this period.
I was very bummed out, especially since this was not the original EMR date to go live. The original launch date was at the end of July.
Well, guys I am going to try and squeak out a TiggerCast by the end of the week.
Thank you Matthew, Tom of T, Zilla and PIzzababe for your supportive emails.
XOXO Tigz.
