I have always associated the
dragonfly with
solar deities.
The beautiful colors that reflect off the dragonfly's wings when
the sun strikes is so beautiful.

I was bored this weekend, so I decided to do some artwork.
This image was inspired by the upcoming pagan holiday of Litha.
Or, as it is more commonly known, Summer Solstice.
Sometimes called Midsummer, LItha is celebrated on, or close to the
summer solstice. Litha is one of eight solar
holidays, or sabbats of Neopaganism. The holiday is considered a turning
point at which summer reaches its height and the sun shines
longest. We are reminded that after the summer solstice, the days
begin to become shorter. At Litha, special attention is given to
our "inner Sun" that dwells inside each one of us. That spark of
divinity that animates our Soul and keeps us connected to the
infinite.

The deity shown in the pic above are of Amun-Ra,
one of the most important solar deities of the ancient Egyptians.
Amun-Ra seemed appropriate for observing LItha.

reclaimed his son today. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has been killed in a Coalition airstrike
near Baquba, Iraq.
The world is a little safer today.

Well, I have to admit, I have read
Anton Szandor La Vey's, Satanic
Bible. Honestly, I found
it a very interesting read. It was very well written and
informative. Satanism is not what you think it is. I quickly found
that out, after reading the book. I realized that I had a lot of
misperceptions about Satanism and
the Church of Satan. I am not a Satanist, but I did get a lot out of
the book. Mystical and thought provoking.
Very interesting to note...that today, Los Angeles is hosting
the First Annual Convergence of
Satanists, being held
tonight at Steve Allen
Theater in Hollywood for a
bigger than life, High Satanic Mass. The mass is in celebration of
the 40th anniversary of The
Church of Satan founded by
Anton La Vey in 1966. Attendance is suppose to be from around the
World. It is a "by invitation only" event.
Only in Los Angeles could something like this be pulled off with
minimal protest. As ZillaFag would say, "I do live in L.A. Nightmare".
I will not be attending the mass tonight, but I can assure you,
there will some great photos ops at the event.
