FAQ's
Why should I choose Stoker Pools to build my pool?
We at Stoker Pools have set ourselves apart from other pool builders.  By using a company philosophy of always being "Honest and Reliable" we have been building quality pools for satisfied customers for over 12 years.  We feel that when you have a pool built it should be an enjoyable experience.  By keeping home owners well informed, by using the highest quality products, sub contractors and finishes, and by doing all the 'little things' that set us apart we have found that we can provide the ultimate pool building experience

How long does a typical gunite pool take to construct?
A typical pool takes 8 - 10 weeks to construct.  Many pool builders will claim that they can have it done in six weeks or less.  While this is possible it is extremely unlikely.  Because there are often 5 or more sub contractors involved in the construction process there will be "down" days in between the different sub contractors coming to perform their work.  This 'down' time along with the necessary inspections from the local governing agency add a minimum of two weeks to the project.  We at Stoker Pools would rather deliver a completed pool on time or early than late.

What can I expect to see during the Stoker Pools excavation process?
Building a gunite pool is a major construction project.  In addition to excavating where your pool will be there also needs to be trenches that go from the pool to the pool equipment, from the pool equipment to the main electrical panel, from the pool equipment to the gas meter and if necessary from the pool equipment to any controller locations.  This often results in the entire yard being dug up.  A homeowner should expect existing landscaping to be disturbed and possible replaced if there are no other means of installing the underground conduits.   We at Stoker Pools take every precaution possible in salvaging and protecting existing landscaping.

What can I expect to see during the Stoker Pools gunite process?
Gunite is applied pneumatically.  The day this is applied you will have a large compressor truck and several large gunite trucks in the front yard during the entire process.  As the gunite is applied it is shaped and molded as desired.  The extra gunite, also called rebound, is placed in a piled to be hauled away and disposed of.  Many builders bury the rebound in the backyard.  This can lead to bad compaction under decks and planting areas that can not be dug out.  We at Stoker Pools feel that small things like this really set us apart from the competition.

What can I expect to see during the Stoker Pools concrete decking process?
Your concrete decking is an extremely important part of the finish look of the pool.  Once poured the decking is a finish product and so needs to be treated as such.  We at Stoker Pools are extremely confident in who we chose to pour our concrete decking.  We use only licensed concrete contractors that pour pool decks every day.  Many feel that they can get a better price using unlicensed "handy men".  We do not feel that the risks are worth the savings.  We our confident that our clients appreciate our extreme care and caution in this important part of the overall project.

What can I expect during the Plaster/Pebble Tec™/Pebble Sheen process?
The application of the final plaster or pebble to your pool means your pool project is drawing close to a finish.

Plaster is installed in one day and filled the following day.  A plaster pool has a very critical start up process.  If not performed correctly the finish of the pool can be affected.  During this 28 day process the pool is brushed daily for the first week and regularly there after.  Also the chemicals asr brought into balance.  Salt water chlorination can not be used for the first 28 days.

Pebble Tec™ is applied in one day.  The following day the pool is acid washed to expose the pebble and then immediately filled with water from the deep end up.  Once the pool is filled it is ready to use.  We at Stoker Pools use only Pebble Tec™ pool finishes.

Pebble Sheen is applied in one day.  The following day the pool is filled completely with water.  The pool will now set for 2 - 5 days during a 'curing' process.  Then the pool is drained, acid washed, polished and refilled with water.  It is now ready to use.  We at Stoker Pools use only Pebble Tec™ pool finishes.
