Except for Harvey, these are in no particular order.

Harvey--my all time favourite. Its gentle, relentless humour is a constant delight. My favourite scene is when Elwood explains how he met Harvey and learned his name. Joy, pure joy.

Brazil--Terry Gilliam at his insane best. I haven't even watched my DVD version yet, but I know I'll love every chaotic, hilarious minute of it.

High Fidelity--this is here simply because I love John Cusack, and I don't own Being John Malkovich. Actually, this one probably works better overall. I only have Grosse Point Blank on video, so it can't be on my DVD list.

West Side Story--Okay, here I start to cry about halfway through and don't stop until the credits end. I do find it kind of creepy, though, to think about Tony going on to star in "Twin Peaks."

To Kill a Mockingbird--the perfect film adaptation of a book. This one is proof that you can remain absolutely faithful to a book, and yet make a flawless movie. And who doesn't wish Atticus was his/her father?

Topsy Turvy--I love Gilbert & Sullivan, so you know I'm going to love this.

Sixth Sense--This is the first scary movie I've been able to watch since The Exorcist. Of course, I didn't see it in theatres. We got the DVD and played it on our computer. Now I'm a fan of all M. Night's work. Second favourite: Unbreakable.

Shrek--One of the best animated films, along with Toy Story 1 & 2 and Chicken Run. Easy to watch over and over again.

The Fellowship of the Ring (extended version)--Well, of course. See my write-up here: Thoughts on FOTR

The Producers--Comic perfection. I still weep over the fact that I didn't get to see Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in the musical version.

The Usual Suspects--Love the puzzle, love Kevin Spacey. This movie makes even Chazz Palminteri endurable.

The Others--Another great ghost story. This one and Sixth Sense are the kind of scary movies I like: ones that make you think about life, death and the meaning of our actions.

Moulin Rouge--I have become such an admirer of Nicole Kidman. So glad she lost the homophobic husband. Man, she can act! I know lots of people can't stand this one, but I adore every overblown, over-the-top minute of it. I especially love the singing. I consider Ewan McGregor's "Your Song" a vast improvement over Elton John's.

Money Python and the Holy Grail--coconuts, cows, and shrubberies. Need I say more?

The Matrix--It's got very cool action. It's got a very cool imaginative universe. This is my kind of Sci-Fi.

Hard Day's Night--John, Paul, George and Ringo: the best at their best.

Chariots of Fire--This I consider a theological masterpiece. "When I run, I can feel God's pleasure." Yeah, that's the God I want to know. Oh yeah, and I always cry during the last race.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon--I've only seen it once so far, but I think it's a masterpiece. And Chow Yun Fat is way hot!
