What days is the museum open?

10:00 - 5:00 7 days a week throughout the season (Memorial Day weekend through mid - October, except for the day before the September Rustic Fair (September 12, 2004) when the museum is closed for show set-up.

Where is Blue Mountain Lake?

In the Central Adirondacks in northern New York State on Route 30 - approximately 1 hours drive from Lake George in the southern Adirondacks; and 60 minutes from Lake Placid in the northern Adirondacks, high peaks region.

What is the admission?

$14 for adults, $7 for kids 6-12; free for kids 5 and under..

Is there something for kids?

Families love the Boatshop for Kids where they can build a toy wooden boat together. They also enjoy a relaxing ride in a pint-sized rowboat on the pond. Not to be missed are the Hats & History, Make Your mark, or Cabinet of Curiosities activities that provide hands-on history fun. Everyone can play with toys from days gone by at the Rising Schoolhouse, or make simple crafts with paper, paste and scissors. Look for scavenger hunts, touch stations, and other activities throughout the museum.

One day in September - this year on September 11, 2004.

When is Community Day?

Community Day, when year-round residents of the Adirondack Park are admitted free, has been expanded to all open days in May, June and October.

How big is the staff?

The museum's year-round staff numbers about 35. That number swells to over 100 during the season.

What does the staff do in the winter?

Winter is a busy time when we wrap up one season and get ready for the next. Exhibits have to be dismantled and remounted, research is done on new topics, promotion gets underway for the upcoming season. And we have lots of meetings!!
