An obituary reads [paper unknown, no date, “17 Dec. 1945” written in pencil on top of clipping]: CHARLES R. BAUGHAN Charles Roland Baughan, retired farmer and mechanic, died Tuesday at his home, near Millers Tavern. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Hode Baughan; two sisters, Mrs. Boyd Coleman, of Powcan, and Mrs. Joseph Davis, of Upright; two brothers, Tom H. Baughan, of Richmond, and Joe E. Baughan, of Howertons. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at Ephesus Baptist Church, Essex County, with burial in the church cemetery.
On 17 December 1945, C. R. Roland died intestate leaving a widow Florence E. Boughan and heirs: Florence E. Boughan, age 70, widow, of Upright; Mrs. Boyd Coleman, age 67, sister, of Powcan; Mrs. Joseph Davis, age 64, sister, of Upright; Thomas H. Boughan, age 61, brother, of Richmond; Joseph E. He is buried at Ephesus Baptist Church at Dunnsville, Virginia. There is a four-grave headstone marked Boughan that has Father Thomas, 1848-1921; Mother Mary, 1847-1938; Husband Roland, 1872-1945; and Wife Florence, 1876-1946.
