Snorkel Isla de Vieques

We kayaked to this little island off Esperanza, on the south coast of Vieques.
The sunlight streamed through the water, onto flowing beds of colorful corals.

A school of tang.

A look above the water. The mini-island, and Puerto Rico in the background.
Sea snails, lower-left.

Can you see the eel? Its yellow and black provide surprisingly good cover.
Poking above the surface again.
See the coral through the surface?
More sea snails.
A fuzzy pic of a sea slug.

A baby barracuda.
At Secret Beach, the water was very clear.

There were enormous fan corals there.

A fireworm (?)

this is some sort of goby.
He would shimmy under the sand...
...until only his head was showing.
Breaking the surface, looking back at Secret Beach.

In the shallows, a school of cuttlefish.
They were unperturbed by us.
And posed for the camera.
From here on, it's pretty much all pictures of cuttlefish...

They would turn pale when approached, presumably to match the color of the sand.
Left is natural color, right is pale.

Bye!
