 Anyone who knows where I work can probably understand why I would be so interested in biometric security devices. There are many good products out there for biometric security but I’ve been trying to find low cost simple solution. Recently my attention has been trained on biometric door locks. Ones that don’t require an AC power source or other complicated setup. Rather than fumbling for keys, it would be great to use a key you can never lose. Your fingerprint. At work and home I use fingerprint access to unlock my computer. Its much faster than typing in your password. Extremely fast. Ok, I don’t really need a fingerprint lock on my home computer but I’m a gadget geek. :-P
The locks I have been looking at all have secondary or tertiary methods of gaining access, meaning either a PIN code or a physical key. If something goes wrong with the reader you aren't completely locked out. If a thief REALLY wants to get into your house they probably will. So putting a fancy biometric lock on your house wont necessarily make it more secure. It will just up the tech factor of your house.
I have not yet found a weather proofed version. I’ve done a decent amount of digging but I may have missed some great products. So if you know of any great biometric locks that are weather proof, let me know.
