Well the age of BlogWave Studio is coming to an end. This will most likely be one of the last handfull of posts to this blog using BlogWave. I have opened an account with DreamHost and will soon be using WordPress to do my blogging. It could be a good month or three yet before I have a working blog using WordPress as I'll be experimenting with design, site content, and if I want to have any recurring themes. I like the "Interesting Words" posts so I think those will carry over to the new thing.
I dont know how much content will be moved from the archives here to my new WordPress blog. I dont think its going to be too easy so I might only bring over select posts. I still have pictures from my Brazil trip that I will link here once I get finished sorting them. In any case I'll leave this blog up in its current form for as long as I have my .Mac account or untill I have ported enough of the original posts over to WordPress.
See ya later BlogWave.... nice knowing ya but youre a bit clunky. |
| Disc Golf Weekend | | Date Created: Aug 07, 2006, 11:05 PM |
This past Friday Jer, Josh, Jim and I set out for Highbridge Hills Sports Complex in Highbridge Wisconsin. The four of us and all of our gear, poker table included, JUST fit into Jer's mini van. The trip takes a little over three hours but I can tell you it's well worth it.
The place is HUGE. They currently have four 18 hole courses open and one 9 hole course. The 9 hole course is semi lighted and open 24 hours. The main 18 hole courses are "pay to play" but when you see the work and effort that has gone into designing and building this complex, the nominal fee for all day play is well worth it. The complex also has its own camp ground with shower facilities.
Josh took some great pictures.... I snapped a few as well.
Saturday night we headed into Ashland to the Deep Water Grille for some fantastic food after a long day of disc. On Saturday we played of the 18 hole courses, Granite Ridge, Highbridge Gold, and Woodland Greens. The first two are very long courses and my arm didnt make it all the way through Highbridge Gold. I was able to play Woodland Greens which is a much shorter course than the other two after a few hour break. Next year I'll have to get my throwing arm in shape so I can give Jer some competition.
It was a fantastic weekend with the guys and I cant wait to get out there again!!

| The "people who don't get it"... | | Date Created: Mar 28, 2006, 12:28 AM |
There are some small things in life that everyone should know. These things should be universally known, like the operation of a sliding glass door. Apparently there are some "people who don't get it" and never will. One of these things is proper elevator etiquette. Specifically the entering and exiting of the elevator... say you are waiting for the elevator... the elevator arrives and there are people already in it.... would you A) calmly wait for the people to exit the elevator before entering, or B) Barge into the elevator before the door is fully open? If you are one of the people who "gets it" you would wait to see if the people on the elevator are going to exit before you enter. That would be proper elevator etiquette.

There are two of the "people who don't get it" in my apartment building. As I am trying to exit the elevator they don't even wait. The "people who don't get it" rush right into the elevator like they were being chased by a pack of hungry Sleestacks. I checked the hall later... no Sleestacks in sight. Im pretty sure these are the type of people who would push past grandma if she were trying to exit the elevator. As the door was sliding closed I said a few "not so nice words" in a "not so library like" tone of voice to the "people who don't get it" about their not "getting it". Normally I let it slide with the "people who don't get it", but today was different. |
