Thank heaven for Insurance!!!!
Many of my close photographer friends may
already know the story behind the below photo....I'm not really going to go into
detail, mainly because I seriously feel like an idiot! This much I'll
say:
On April 23rd I was shooting an
engagement session on a hill and my camera "somehow" managed to roll itself down
a hill and land into a small stream where it was completely submerged for about
three seconds! My heart fell to my stomach and I couldn't believe what I was
seeing. Luckily I was able to pull my CF card out in time and all of the images
where fine....but sadly, my 5-d, battery grip, and 17-40 lense were (in Canon's
words) "beyond economical repair". I immediately called my insurance company
and placed a claim and now three weeks later I have a check in hand to cover my
damages and my newly purchased gear...INSURANCE ROCKS! Today I had to send off
my old equipment to my insurance company for protocol reasons, I found myself a
little sad to say goodbye to a camera and lense that had been so good to me over
the past year and half. Anyway, here is a shot of it all before I packed it up
and shipped it off.
Words of advice....Its "WHEN" your
equipment gets damaged and "WHEN" your equipment gets stolen (both have happened
to me just in the past two years), there is never an "IF", it is always a good
idea to have that insurance to back you up! If you don't have insurance on your
equipment....GET IT!
