in Dublin. Each time by a cruel twist of fate. This time its personal.
Tonight, by the grace of God, I will bear witness to Sweden's greatest Rock 'n'
Roll band ever: The Hives. Their new album hasn't exactly rocked my world. But
I expect that they'll put on a great show nonetheless.

proposal. So it is now official. I am ABD (All But Dissertation). The questions
were fair. However, I somehow felt that my answers did not even nearly reflect
how much work I put into this over the past six months. Six months! Can you
believe that? Still, what matters is that I am through and now I have to write
this thing.

blog with details from my personal life but this is important news for me on
many levels. It seems that at least two of my PhD committee members like the
current draft of my proposal (you can download this from my iDisk). I may be
able to defend it as soon as next week. Once this phase is over I'll be able to
get onto the work proper. I've been working on this since the summer so this
feels long overdue.

These pages will contain my musing on many issues, spanning a diverse range of
concerns. However, the primary purpose I have in mind for this blog is to act
as a sort of public notepad for my PhD research. If you don't know me, I am a
student of Public and International Affairs at Virginia Tech. My main research
area is international relations theory and I am essentially interested in how IR
theorists think about Empire and Imperialism.
