Technology in the Region

Today's DP -

"A panel representing local business, government and University of Virginia interests will gather in Charlottesville on Thursday to discuss the future of technology businesses in the area. The event, which is co-sponsored by the Virginia Piedmont Technology Council and the Thomas Jefferson Partnership for Economic Development, seeks to address how a hospitable climate for high-tech business can be developed without sacrificing the area’s quality of life."

Charlottesville remains a hotbed for biotech and other tech startups. In 2001, we experienced the tech bust along with the rest of the region and country, and the recovery continues. UVa. has been an excellent incubator over the years with one of the goals to rival the tech triangle in Raleigh-Durham. We certainly have the resources, both financially and intellectually; success will come in time.
