"If it's yellow, let it mellow ...

My family were taking Navy showers and using the runoff to flush our toilets. Water rates were raised, ironically, to compensate for the dramatically reduced amount of water that was being used by customers.

...We learned that government in our region has maintained the unenviable ability to talk, discuss and filibuster their way out of making a decision, any decision other than to delay making said decision.

... if it's brown, flush it down." These words were posted in bathrooms throughout our region in 2002. Restaurants were using disposable utensils, plates and cups. My family were taking Navy showers and using the runoff to flush our toilets. Water rates were raised, ironically, to compensate for the dramatically reduced amount of water that was being used by customers.

What did we learn? We learned that government in our region has maintained the unenviable ability to talk, discuss and filibuster their way out of making a decision, any decision other than to delay making said decision. Water remains a topic of conversation, as evidenced by today's excellent DP article.
