Senior Art Director
With a primary focus in social marketing, my skills as an senior art director are used to develop strategic plans, creative concepts, and manage a creative team to produce products targeted to special populations and the general public.
Working procedures and creative concepts were established for the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to increase the institute’s brand as the foremost expert on the science behind drug abuse. The work of my creative team on the award winning steroid abuse campaign created a high demand for the campaign materials – resulting in multiple reprints of posters and art cards. Due to the success of the original campaign, NIDA has recently requested additional designs of the print and web ads for future distribution.
For the Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation (DGYLF), I concepted and established the branding and print advertising used for the foundation’s fund raising efforts. After the print run of the first ad for the Cornerback Roast fund raiser dinner, requests for attendance to the event overwhelmed the foundation’s call center, thus creating a sold-out event.
Internally, I revamped what was an in-house graphics department into a nationally competitive creative group, staffed and partnered with creatives and vendors dedicated to developing materials improving the quality of life for diverse audiences. I have worked to educate internal and external clients about the importance of strategically sound, creatively strong, and appropriately funded communications and marketing materials.

The
Bomstein Agency | 1999-2000
Ideologist (Art Director/Copywriter/Strategist)
As an ideologist I was tasked with renovating old and, in some cases, out-of-touch brands and delivering them under the radar to an advertising savvy public.
For the Washington Times, an award winning print campaign was developed to increase awareness and retain subscribers in a market dominated by a competing newspaper. Despite the conservative views of the Washington Times in a predominately progressive city, my work helped retain readership by reminding the public of the importance of reading all sides of the story.
The Sport and Health and Clubs’ fund raising efforts for their Corporate Challenge were bolstered by the creative concepts developed by my copywriter and myself. Strategies were developed for participating companies to challenge other companies through taunts and insults passed along through various media channels.
The Bomstein Agency won the Washington Capitals account from the spec work I generated, further establishing the agency as a key player in Washington, D.C. My creative portfolio worked with the strategic and media plans to increase public attendance at the games.

Trade Secrets | 2000
Freelance Art Director/Brand Consultant
Trade Secrets was challenged with selling African and African-American clothes and jewelry to a market dominated by large fashion brands. I provided the advertising expertise that helped Trade Secrets gain a foot hold in the local Washington, D.C. market. I also designed and produced print direct mail pieces that increased attendance to the shop’s Sunday jazz concerts.
