Thank you for virtually visiting Carl Photography. We capture lifetime memories of people and friendly pets: -- environmental portraits ("We Make House Calls!"); -- posing on a heated tile floor, or outdoors in a country setting, at our studio; -- Pet/Family Portrait Day sessions at local businesses, clubs and other groups; -- lifetime-heirloom professional photographic prints at reasonable prices; -- artistic retouching and restoration; -- fine-art printing and mounting options; -- video productions; -- commercial and event photography (for select clients). We are located in Boiling Springs, in Cumberland County near Carlisle and Harrisburg, in south-central Pennsylvania. We use professional cameras and lighting equipment, many hand-painted backdrops, hundreds of digital and scenic backgrounds, Mac computers, and high-definition projection systems. STYLE “Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.” ~ John Keats We never pose kids with angelic props or David Copperfield clothing, because they will want to remember themselves as they really were. Craig treasures his own portrait in casual clothes, holding a favorite toy. It was artfully posed, professionally photographed, and skillfully preserved (hand-tinted) in 1950 by a retired Hollywood cinematographer; it is still beautiful. We never distort the natural dignity of animals with demeaning viewpoints, pitiful expressions, or magnified noses. We portray their real personalities, feelings, beauty and grace. Retouched reality is beautiful! We simplify portraits to focus on emotional expression. While blemishes, wrinkle shadows, bulges and leashes are fine in reality, they are really distracting in an artwork. And for only fifty cents per Photoshop minute, we can satisfy your requests to: -- assemble the perfect group portrait; -- change the background; -- change the color or tone of your clothing (if you retroactively wish to follow our advice); -- perform digital surgery (Craig has lost 50 pounds in 30 minutes - and so can you!). PROFESSIONALISM Please review our testimonials; we work very hard to make every session an artistic success. Craig is a CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER (CPP). This designation is awarded by the Professional Photographers Certification Commission, based on rigorous testing and portfolio quality review. These requirements are designed to measure artistic ability, technical proficiency and competency. Worldwide, only 2,500 photographers have met these requirements. Craig has loved photography since 1953 (when he was entrusted with "the family Brownie"); made his first pet-owner portrait in 1978, becoming a full-time pro in 2004. He has avidly studied videography since 1992, logging thousands of hours on his Sony professional editing system. Vicki specializes in artistic posing and set design. She truly enjoys working with children, teenagers, adults, family groups, and pets that don't bite. She earned a Bachelor of Social Welfare degree at Shippensburg University, and she subsequently completed college classes in Art History and other fields. She is a talented videographer with a knack for capturing special moments. Brandon photographed his first professional portrait (a veterinarian's holiday greeting card) shortly after his eighth birthday. He has a brilliant Standard Poodle, Princess, who was educated at the Fieldwood Dog Training Center. Brandon rescued Shelby, a Beagle/Husky mix who also attended Fieldwood. We are grateful for everything we have learned there about living with these amazingly social, sensitive, graceful and athletic creatures. We do not offer contract/school photography, or accept Portrait Day hosts who want to profit from the event; nor do we give "mutual back-scratching" referrals. We keep our prices down and our quality up, by not participating in "kickback" schemes. So let's avoid phoniness, and capture some reality together!
