300A few of my photo buddies and I played
hooky yesterday afternoon and went to a matinee screening of 300 the
movie. When I first saw the trailer a while back, I thought, wow... it
is going to be visually stunning, but the plot looks a little weak so I think
I'll pass.
But my friend Vic organized the whole thing, bought the tickets online to the showing on the IMAX screen, so I decided to go and be social. I am sure glad I did. I was actually out running errands near the theater before the show, and saw a huge line forming so I just jumped in, and it was a good thing. I can't remember the last time I went to the movies and the line was around the block (I know a lot of movies sell out and have big lines, I just normally go on monday or wednesday nights to avoid the crowds). I heard that it was already sold out for the day (and it was only just past noon at that point). I predict it could be the largest non holiday weekend movie opening of all time. We'll know on Monday. Anywho... The movie was shot and digitally created so beautifully, and the story was actually pretty interesting and not as predictable as I feared it would be. It is a total guys movies, but there is lots of eye candy for the ladies too... all 300 of the Spartan have like 14 packs and are wearing leather Speedos. It was great watching it on the huge IMAX screen as well and you could just feel the soundtrack. It was intense! There is a great "Making of" section on the website. Guys... go see this movie! Try not to spear anyone or get road rage on the way home. ![]() .
