Vegas RecapWhat a fun trip! Jessica and I had an
awesome time in Las Vegas and I wanted to post a little recap in the Rants and
Raves section to share some of our
experiences.
We flew in Monday afternoon, which was my actual birthday, and headed straight to the spa for a massage. After that. we gambled a little, shopped a little and took a little nap before getting ready to go out. I was watching Monday Night Football, Cardinals vs. Bears, and when we left for dinner, the Cards were up 23-3. I had emailed my brother in law Matt earlier that afternoon predicting a 24-21 upset with the Bears losing their first game of the season. As we left for dinner, I knew the game was in the bag and Matt Leinart is the best thing to hit Arizona since U2 brought the Joshua Tree tour in '87. So Jessica took my to Tao at the Venetian. It is my favorite restaurant in Las Vegas and as per usual, the meal did not disappoint. The food is insane, the decor is incredible and the service was impeccable. A true dining experience. Apparently the Tao Nightclub is also quite the rage, but that ain't my bag baby. Here is Jess at dinner with her fancy blue drink: And us after dinner in "Venice": Jess modeling the fruits of her shopping spree: And here she is with some wax statue of some D list celeb (I am going to pretend that I don't know who it is): Later that night we played in a real poker game, not like the casual games we've played with friends. We both did surprisingly well, and I may just have to become a professional poker player. Also, imagine my surprise when I watched SportsCenter and the Bears had come from behind to win the game without even scoring an offensive touchdown. Tuesday after sleeping in, it was shopping day. We hit the Dessert Passage, the Forum Shops and the Fashion Show mall. We got some cool stuff, but my big rant was that all 3 Gap stores were sold out of the (RED) t-shirts. I couldn't believe it. A lot of people must have watched Oprah and Bono last Friday when the (RED) campaign launched in the US and went straight to the Gap. One employee told me to check online and sure enough, Gap's online store was sold out as well. I was bummed but I am glad to see that people are supporting such a worthy cause. (Check back here next week to get details on the [ b ] (RED) promotions that I'll be kicking off!) We pretty much shopped all day and we had an amazing lunch at Sensei, a relatively new restaurant at the Bellagio. The night, John and Dalisa Cooper took us out for my birthday to Cafe Ba Ba Reeba and we had amazing tapas and paella. (Thanks again guys... it was awesome and we enjoyed our time with you both!). After dinner, we took a walk and then played more poker. I didn't do so well, because Jessica kept beating me. I had a straight, she had a flush. I had a flush, she had a full house. I had three of a kind, she had a straight. I should have just handed her my money and saved some time. And for the last rave of this trip, we had lunch today at Commander's Palace. It was Dee-Lish! The Brennan Family sure knows how to make amazing restaurants. Vegas is always under construction, this is right next to the Bellagio. Future site of the Cosmopolitan Resort and Casino: I had a very "special special" birthday and I want to thank Jessica Claire for such a wonderful time. Oh, and by the way, just as we were leaving I went back to the Gap and even though they didn't have the T-shirt I wanted, I did pick up the hooded sweatshirt and modeled it while playing video poker at the airport: .
