AlisonThis afternoon I had wonderful
experience of shooting a very courageous young woman. Her name is Alison and she
used to date my best friend Trevor. I ran into Ali at a wedding a few weeks in
which she was a bridesmaid. After catching up and some small talk, she shared
with me that in March of this year she was diagnosed with breast cancer. I
couldn't believe it. You would have never known it because she had the most
amazing attitude and a wonderful smile on her face the entire day. She told me
it has been a year of ups and down and it has totally changed her perspective on
life. She is a beautiful person and she told me I could share her photos and
story on my blog.
here's a note i just received from Alison: Hey Becker, I just love you and your work! I wanted to do this shoot with you, as we discussed, to celebrate and commemorate this time in my life, which has such great significance to me and my future. I hope that we were able to capture both strength and beauty and can show with these photos that they may exist during even the most difficult times. Thanks again for this experience, Ali ![]() ![]() Here you can see the targets for the radiation therapy (which she had shortly before our shoot) and one of her scars: ![]() Please visit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for more information about this terrible disease or to make a donation. .
