[ b ] (RED)





Just eleven days ago, the (RED) campaign officially launched in the US and I posted about it here. I've since bought a (RED) iPod and a couple t-shirts and a sweartshirt from the Gap, and I ordered some custom Converse All Stars on their website (it's so cool to be able to design your own Cons!). Now that's all fine and dandy, but I really believe in the (RED) manifesto and I want to try to do something to make a bigger impact.

I've tried contacting the powers that be at (RED) and have been unsuccessful. From what I gather, they won't be partnering with a small time businessman like myself, but that is not going to stop me from trying to help out a very worthy cause.

So today, I am launching [ b ] (RED), my own personal crusade to try to raise money and raise awareness to help our brothers and sisters who are dying of AIDS in Africa. My goal is to donate $10,000 to the Global Fund by the end of the year and with your help, I can do it.

The first product that I will be selling is a hand crafted album of two dozen of my favorite artistic images including images that I shot in Africa last year. The cover will be made of red leather. It is a 5x7 horizontally bound book that normally retails for $960. I am offering a limited edition of 40 signed books at $500. I will be donating 50% of the price to the Global Fund in the name of the person who purchases the book (and you will receive a confirmation of the donation). If I sell all 40, that will be $10,000. The books are being produced right now and will be ready to ship in time for the holidays.

Speaking of which, the holidays are rapidly approaching and I have a handful of slots left in November to shoot some family portraits (or kids portrait sessions). The fee for the sitting is $500 and $250 of it will be donated to the Global Fund.

I am also donating 10% of any wedding deposits I receive until the end of the year.
