Understanding Sensory DysfunctionAll of us process sensory input 24 hours a day, starting from the moment we are born. It is the integration of this sensory information that shapes our perceptions, defines our realities, and drives our behaviors. We all exist as sensory beings, with our own unique perspectives. We hope that our work promotes a greater awareness and understanding of sensory issues and sensory integration dysfunction.Sensory issues and sensory integration dysfunction touches all of our lives in some way - a child, a student, a family member, a co-worker, or a friend who has an autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, a learning disability, or cerebral palsy. It is our opinion that the sensory piece for many children has been overlooked, downplayed or undervalued for too long. Now is the time to bring sensory dysfunction into the forefront and begin to look at home and at school, learning behavior differently - through a sensory lens. Yours faithfully, The authors are based in upstate New York, USA, yet cheerfully travel the world (time and other committments allowing) to fulfill their mission: helping others to better understand Sensory Dysfunction. |
