
Dr. Grugle graduated magna cum laude from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1980 with a B.S. in biology. He received his medical education at Southwestern Medical School, part of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas. After graduation in 1984, Dr. Grugle was commissioned as a lieutenant in the United States Navy , Department of Medicine and served four years, first at the Naval Hospital San Diego in the capacity of intern in psychiatry and then at the Naval Hospital in Corpus Christi where he received specialized training in aerospace medicine.
Immediately after leaving the military, Dr. Grugle was engaged in the general practice of medicine for one year prior to beginning his specialty training in psychiatry in 1989 at Timberlawn Psychiatric Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Following three and one half years training at Timberlawn, Dr. Grugle entered private practice in the Dallas area in 1993. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
The scope of Dr. Grugle's practice includes comprehensive evaluation and treatment of all emotional disorders of adults, adolescents, and a limited practice for evaluation of children aged 8 to 15. He provides individual, group, marital and family psychotherapy. Dr. Grugle is in private practice in Dallas, Texas and is a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.
