project: Z - A Janitor Rap

Use of Interactive Media: additional module for Bishop College music students

Video Production unit:

Make a video Ad for the Music Department. Video to include 3D animation and / or stop motion animation using NewTek's Modeler and Lightwave 3D, or Boinx iStop Motion.

Mum's not a music student, but enrolled on the Video & 3D modules with her team mate Dean Parker.

3D Animation unit:

Create an articulated model, animate it, and make a short movie of it doing something. Include backgrounds. Mum's going to model a vacuum cleaner based on the design of the Hoover Z vacuum cleaner with my face and head and my Pathfinder communication aid for its foot. Me, my passion for vacuums, and my talker all in one being. I wonder what she gets me to suck up?

In our own project Z the super hero might suck up the core words that fall so easily from teachers mouths (usisng Particle FS) but which they don't teach their non-verbal students, who they only give lesson words like roman and colusseum to. Very useful in the playground.

Without communications aids or access to core words the childrens' lives are diminished, they can't chat, read or write, their life choices are severely limited. The lyrics in our first attempt at animating Z aren't in the soundtrack to Dean and Mum's music ad (they don't sound very rappy - need a Garage Band lesson).

Z:
