Home Michael My Talker AAC Projects Coat Attack Project: Coat Attack |
Scenario:Art Attack type project where a huge collage of coats and jumpers is made. Theme to be decided, probably a mighty vacuum cleaner. Purpose:Fun thing to do for a movie-making teenager who loves vacuums & coats, and their owners. The grander the scale the better, seems like a good idea for fundraising event. Venue:We would do this project anywhere but school would be the ideal place as Michael wants his schoolfriends to be invoved and their coats to feature in the collage. School does Children In Need every year, so fingers crossed for this one. Background:Michael has had a life-long passion for other people's clothes. He likes to try people's coats and tops on, be photographed or videoed doing it, then return the items to their owners. Sometimes he asks if he can borrow a coat or top to take home for a while, and sometimes he wants it for keeps. He engages people in conversations about their clothes' colours and labels, how they fit, how they look and feel, what the fate of each article would be if it were his to decide. He has a collection of coats. Some, he wears in rotation for sitting on the garden swing, and some he keeps for trying on in bed. Others he likes to wear when his is vacuuming, at home or at the houses of family and friends. He likes to cut up clothes that he is finished with and arrange the pieces on his pillow and on the shelf at the head of his bed. He has done this since being very young, and has a large trunk of favourite remnants, some of which may be used in a patchwork quilt for Michael's own children one day. |
