trojan horseThe horse is designed so that all of the machining can be done on the shaper using ready dressed timber and the existing patterns and jigs. |

Holes needed for the dowels that hold the horse together are used for the screws that fasten the pattern to the work. One of the toggles used for pulling the toy along can be used to push out the dowel that releases the trapdoor in the horse's belly. |

The body is in halves split down the plan view centre-line. This gives the opportunity to saw out the cockpit before glueing the halves together. Made from a bedstead at least 100 years old, the fragrance of the sawn pine was as fresh as if the tree had just been felled! |

4 x 4When I told my grandaughter that there was little else I could make her from wood, back came the reply that a 4 x 4 would be nice for her Barbie dolls! A jeep for my grandson's Action Man soon followed. |

The car is designed so that no part which needs machining on the shaper is wider than 80mm. The sides are each made of two parts and the bonnet three. |

a toy rocking duckOne of the first projects made with the help of the shaper, it is ever popular because a little 'jockey' does not have far to fall if thrown. Only one 'special' pattern had to be made to shape the profile of the head. (This pattern has been used since in the production of parts for several of the projects.) |
