Oliver the French Fan asks:

Could you tell me please , Andraax , what could we find in the city of the
dead in south Emer?

Oliver, here is a map of central Uj in Emer showing the approximate location, and some additional background:

The chill wind moaned, like a hundred voices calling out a half-hearted warning. Perhaps they had done so to no avail too many times before.
I turned to look one more time out across this valley. 'Desolate' didn't seem like a harsh enough word to describe this tortured land which looked like the life had been sucked out of it. For miles in every direction loomed structures older than any civilization in the world

Holding aloft my glimmering azure wand, I turned back toward the tomb's waiting maw.

I entered the Halls of the Dead.

The City of the Dead

'High up in the bleak vales of the northern Barrier Mountains lies a vast city carved out of rock. Whether it was ever a city for the living it is not known, but now it is the home of the dead.

The city dates back thousands of years, to a time before the coming of the Laan. The few who have managed to locate the city have found few clues as to its origins. All say that there is a presence still lingering there; a power that has waned over the years, and is sleeping — but should it be roused, it might be more fearsome than any force alive today.'

In truth, the City is even older than any suspect. It is a survivor from the First Era, when the Jinteni people ruled Emer and beyond. The arid climate of the highlands has allowed the city to remain preserved through the millennia. Dangers of every kind — as well as wonders of the ancient Lords — lurk in this vast maze of tombs, tunnels and installations.

The city is a vast tomb complex, a necropolis. Therefore, you are likely to find undead. You will also find all matter of treasures, including magical items, and magic-technology fusions, machines powered by the legendary sun-gems. More than that I cannot say at this time.

Don from the US and Fernando from Spain asks our
first questions for the returning "Ask Andraax"
Don: What happened to the Kuluku?
A: (Andraax) Nothing has 'happened' to them, at least if you mean some sort of catastrophic event. The Kuluku still live in the jungles of SE Emer, though they have retreated deeper into the rainforest to avoid encounters with intruders from the north. They do maintain contacts with some seemingly unlikely trade partners, and few venture into the outside world. More on the Kuluku will be forthcoming. And one day Terry might write that Emer III...

Don: What can you tell us about the layout and history of the watch towers of
U-Lyshak?

A: (Terry) This isn't as much a question for this page as a good suggestion for an addition to the Map Room. We can feature interesting layouts with descriptions as well as regional maps. The towers Don refers to are mentioned in the narrative of the Shadowstone Chronicles. Look for the Watchtowers in the next month or so!

Fernando: In summer 6052 Klyrunak discovered that Andraax is still alive, why
the Jerak Ahrenreth did nothing?
A: (Andraax) Yes he did escape me, and he knows that I am still alive (or at least probably suspects that the person he encounteres was in fact Andraax), but you assume he informed the Council? Or even part of the fractious membership? Remember that my kin Ondoval has essentially abandoned the order. I sensed that Klyrunak was a Mystic, and by their nature they are keepers of secrets...
