2006 April 15th Saturday 14:07PDT - by the thunderclap

On Friday April 7th in the snail-mail i received a CD-single i'd ordered: Ultra Freaky Orange by Neotropic (Seattle's Riz Maslen). There were several excellent remixes of this track, plus some other cool material from Mr Brubaker's Strawberry Alarm Clock which had been reworked by talented musical artists. In the morning the cute UPS deliveryman dropped off a package (some poppers i'd ordered recently) then he returned in the afternoon with our new 20" iMac G5. Tony and i spent the rest of the day setting it up and migrating our data from the G5 on my desk (which i acquired just two months ago) to this new (identical) personal computer which then went on his desk. We love our 64-bit PowerPC devices!

At 22:00PDT Ryan dropped in. We fed him some snacks and let him take a shower. He supposedly wasn't homeless any more, and had managed to hold down a new job for a whole week, so i thought perhaps things were getting a little better for him.

On Saturday April 8th i got up at noon and brewed some coffee, adding Pasano's sugar-free raspberry syrup, plus a big spoonful of the delicious chocolate syrup Tony had made earlier. What a fabulous beverage! I sorted out the next week's allotments of medications into the compartments of my pill planner, and listened to the JazzMusique stream from NetMusique.com. Then we watched our videotaped episodes of the series finale of Red Green, and CBC satire we enjoy: Royal Canadian Air Farce and This Hour Has 22 Minutes. These were followed by another edition of the Winnipeg Comedy Festival.

On Sunday April 9th i slept until mid-afternoon, and woke up while Anthony Angelo Junior was on the telephone with his brother in Vermont. After he finished speaking with Paschal (concerning Anthony Senior, now in his mid-eighties) he joined me for some more raspberry chocolate coffee. I took 5mg of Marinol and enjoyed the fabulous new album from Amorphous Androgynous (a.k.a. the Future Sound Of London): Alice in Ultraland. Tony and i shared a tart Granny Smith apple, and i had some Mountain High organic yogurt. Then i listened to The Fifth Release from Matador by Pizzicato Five. Tony was quite pleased as he spent the whole weekend playing with the new G5 iMac, as it's the fastest computer he's ever used and it has a wonderful 20-inch LCD widescreen display, a useful infra-red remote control, and a decent operating system.

On Monday April 10th i listened to Papua New Guinea Translations and Tales of Ephidrina by FSOL/Amorphous Androgynous; a couple albums by Hawke (one of the Hardkiss brothers): Heatstroke and Namaquadisco; then two more discs by FSOL: The Isness and The Otherness, followed by Hardkiss: Delusions Of Grandeur. The latter was a two-disc compilation of some of the finest music by Scott, Gavin, and Robbie Hardkiss, featuring some Rabbit In The Moon remixes as well as many original compositions. My deceased friend Shawn and i used to love this two-hour extravaganza during the mid-1990s; we'd listened to it while we were tripping on acid and ecstasy, stoned on marjuana, and it always elevated our mood.

I was too tired to feel like doing anything too involved, but my hunger was activated by the THC in my Dronabinol prescription, so Tony suggested we bake a simple pork roast. We applied some buttery cooking-spray to the bottom and sides of a covered roasting pan, then placed a frozen pork sirloin weighing 1.65 pounds in the center. We surrounded the pork with four small potatoes (quartered), one large carrot (cut in chunks), half a diced tomato, about an ounce of chopped purple onion, three tablespoons salted butter, a big spoonful of crushed rosemary sprigs, half a teaspoon of minced garlic, a quarter teaspoon of ginger paste, a dash of fenugrek, half teaspoon of fennel seeds, a heaping teaspoon of coarsely ground black and white peppercorns, quarter teaspoon of salt, half teaspoon kelp powder, a dash of chili powder, a pinch of powdered cloves, a pinch of dried sage, and a tiny sprinkle of MSG crystals. This went into the oven at 375F; after the first hour of baking we added almost a cup of red and green bell pepper and half a zucchini (cut into chunks). After the second hour we checked the roast's internal temperature with a meat thermometer (it needed to be 170F and it was actually 180F), removed it from the oven, transferred the pork to a cutting board, scooped the vegetables into a couple serving bowls, and combined the pan liquids with several ounces of sour cream, pouring this over the contents of our bowls. I carved the pork into six pieces, serving two onto Tony's bowl and two onto mine, then placed the remaining two in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator. Tony suggested those leftovers would make nice sandwiches later. After our huge meal we drank some tea and watched our videotaped episodes of shows from the Fox network which aired on the Can-West Global channel from Vancouver. We enjoyed The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Malcolm in the Middle. I was exhausted and slept for about eleven hours.

When i awoke Tuesday April 11th i brewed our usual pot of Colombian coffee, then i spent some time on the telephone. First i spoke with my insurance company, then i called my primary physician's office to arrange continuations of my referrals to Respiratory Therapy and my HIV specialist, and to request another referral to an ophthalmologist. I scheduled my next follow-up with my physician a few months in advance; i'd need to wait for some paperwork to arrive in the snail-mail during the next few days so i'd be able to schedule my eye exam. In addition to the usual check-up for my prescription lenses, i also have to see the ophthalmologist every year or two (or sooner, on some dreaded occasions) for dilation of my eyes and more thorough inspection around the areas where there was previous scarring. In past years i've had problems with AIDS-related bacterial, viral, and fungal infections in and around my eyes, so it's important for me to be vigilant about their well-being.

Tony and i continued to encounter some inexplicable niggling issues with the hard drive which had been recently salvaged from our previous G4 iMac and was now in an external FireWire case. Sometimes it seemed like it would work perfectly; then for no apparent reason it would display cryptic error messages, or become unreachable. Often it would fail to mount to any of our three computers. We disconnected it and packed it into its bubble-wrap, as i decided i'd have to bring it back to TDCurran soon. We've never had any problems with the other external FireWire drives we use, as both the 120GB and the 200GB units have functioned perfectly flawlessly for the past few years. Tony was online checking the MacAlly support topics related to our drive's case, and he found a firmware update. I downloaded the installer, unpacked the drive, reconnected it to my G3 iMac, and attempted to update the drivers, but to no avail. Then i tried connecting it to my G5, and also switched FireWire cables with a spare i had lying around, but still no luck. So it all went back into the box as i cursed the amount of time i'd been wasting on this futility.

At 15:00PDT the cute UPS deliveryman arrived with a package. It was the latest toy i'd ordered from eXtreme Restraints: the Premium Total Sensory Deprivation Leather Hood. I already have a lighter leather hood of different design which can be quite fun, for those of us who're into that sort of thing. The thin strand of leather which laces through the grommets up the backside of the lighter hood had broken and been re-knotted a couple times already, so i figured i'd have to replace it with something tougher. Maybe the athletic goods store would have appropriate shoelaces among the hiking boots and waders they sell; i'd check the Big 5 Sports outlet at the Bellis Fair Mall when in the neighborhood to drop off the defective MacAlly hard drive case at TDCurran. I was too tired to go out Tuesday afternoon or evening, so i procrastinated these errands. The Bay was a little foggy during the hours before sunset as i took the cardboard and rubbish across the parking lot to the recycling bins; then the skies became quite colorful as breezes flowed in from the Pacific. Tuesday night i fell asleep to the sounds of the incomparable two-disc creation known as Lifeforms by Future Sound Of London.

Wednesday morning April 12th i explored activities with my new hood. This was exciting and not exactly what i'd expected; in fact, it was more complicated and more pleasurable than i'd imagined. I'll write about it at length some time, after i continue to become more familiar with it. I took a nap until 15:00PDT. After i woke up and attended to personal hygiene i cleaned and recharged my Norelco shaver. Tony and i shared a pot of coffee flavored with ground cinnamon and cloves while ISDN by FSOL played on the stereo.

I drove over to TDCurran and explained that the MacAlly case seemed to be defective. It only took a couple minutes for the technician to swap the hard disk into a new identical case, and then it resumed working perfectly; so apparently our suspicions about the MacAlly product were correct. Then i went into Big 5 Sporting Goods at the mall and found some laces to replace the broken ones in my older leather hood. On the way home i stopped at Youngstock's open-air produce market and found some potatoes, plums, lettuce, zucchini, asparagus, grapefruits, and a tomato.

When i returned home Tony and i hooked up that hard disk to each computer, testing it extensively to be sure it was truly fixed. Everything seemed to be flawless, so i spent some time doing my usual data backups, running iSync on all four of our startup disks on all three of our iMacs (each of the two new G5s with Tiger OS X 10.4.6 as well as the six-year-old G3 with Panther OS X 10.3.9 and the repaired drive which is also bootable on the G3 with 10.3.9) and making sure the firewire connections worked perfectly.

Thursday morning April 13th we watched our videotaped TV shows: the Rick Mercer Report, the season finale of the Halifax Comedy Fest, another episode of At the Hotel, and That 70s Show. Although i'd only been active for about twelve hours i was quite exhausted, so i slept again until almost noon. When i got out of bed Thursday there was a pleasant light rain. Several barges and tugboats came and went from the shipping channel; and a firefighting boat was practising in front of the mouth of Whatcom Creek, shooting a powerful jet from a nozzle on its deck. Across the street Mrs Haskell was tending to her flowerbeds, and her cherry trees were covered with lovely pink blossoms for the third month in a row. We listened to SomaFM's cheerful and humours Illinois Street Lounge as we had some more coffee and used our computers.

I felt like being productive around the house, so i vaccuumed all the floors and rugs. Tony took a shower and went out to do some more shopping, while i stayed home and continued to clean and organize. There were so many shelves, boxes, and drawers full of various adult sextoys, it seemed like a good day to tidy up. I tossed away a few very old items which had completely deteriorated beyond usability; but there were many heaps of gear to sort out. I grouped items into categories: hoods, gasmask, bondage cuffs for wrists and ankles, metal hardware for attaching any anal-impaler, buttplug harnesses, cockrings and ball-stretchers, ropes and strings, rubber items such as inflatable gags, nipple clamps, lubricants, gloves, plastic wrap, duct tape, raunchy old jockstraps, socks, and handkerchiefs, et cetera. The items used less frequently (such as those nipple-clamps i never seem to utilize in recent years) went into several boxes on shelves out of the way in the west room and also in the back of the east room, while the most heavily favored objects (certain cockrings and leather items) went into convenient locations on shelves and in drawers for handy access around the usual playspace. It was quite satisfying to inventory and put everything in its place. After i was done these tasks i decided to play with the new hood again; it was quite an intense experience, and i even had some hallucinations (probably augmented by the cannabinoids, kavalactones, and poppers). I'll write more about this in the future-- i'm still learning about the sensations (feelings, smells, tensions, textures), the mental situation created, the dexterity involved, and the variety of ways i can have fun with such tremendously sexy objects of the finest craftsmanship.

Although i'd only been up and about for five or six hours i was quite tired, so i took a short nap again while Limbik Frequencies played some sweet electronic tunes. When i awoke before sunset the rain was still spattering against the northwest window and a couple fishing vessels had moored at the pier. Some of the logs of the breakwater in front of South Hill had come loose again and the tide had shifted them slightly farther away from the shoreline. Seals and seagulls were hanging out in the vicinity. I steeped a mug of Stash green tea with jasmine blossoms and added a spoonful of honey.

After my very brief rest my friend Kenny telephoned from Massachusetts and we had a friendly chat. Then Tony returned home with many shopping bags, and a pizza from Papa Murphy's with chicken and vegetables. After dinner i followed some links to YouTube.com which my friend Jace in Vermont showed me, and we watched an episode of South Park there ("The Return of Chef"). Before midnight i listened to Jimpster presents: Scrambled-- the sound of Freerange Records as it continued to rain and Tony went to sleep.

Friday morning i took a shower and rinsed out my ass, then stuffed my Purple Silicone Plug (#39) up my happy hole. I took all my usual medications, enjoyed some cannabinoids, and had some delicious Colombian coffee with Tony at noon. The day was grey with more scattered showers, and i saw somebody paddling a kayak across the Bay, while a Coast Guard vessel and various other watercraft passed to and fro near the shores of Bellingham. The sweet sounds of the JazzMusique stream from NetMusique.com played on the Cerwin-Vega and KLH speakers surrounding the west room. In the early afternoon i had an Audio/Video chat with my friend Pasha in Arizona using our Apple iSight hardware and Dot-Mac iChatAV software. Then Tony and i finished the leftovers from Papa Murphy's.

In the late afternoon the THC made me think about food again. Between toasted halves of a bagel with poppy seeds i spread some cream cheese and slices of fresh strawberries, then i brewed a mug of Stash green tea and added some honey. Running low on energy, i spent the hours before sunset simply sitting around enjoying my new iMac, and watching the seas and skies outside our wide northwest window. A variety of clever, humorous, twinkly tunes played on the stream from Limbik Frequencies. Drugs continued to successfully stimulate my appetite so i made some sandwiches with Tony. On toasted bread i spread some applesauce, sprinkled some mint flakes and a dash of powdered cloves, layered slices of our leftover roasted pork, then microwaved briefly before serving.

After masturbating for the fifth time in less than eighteen hours (weeee!) i dozed off on my bed by the window. The nap lasted about four hours, then Tony lied down next to me. We were spooning, humping and snogging, then he slid his boner up my butt and pumped my ass for a while. It made me feel so good, pre-cum was leaking out of the tip of my dick. After a bit longer he increased the pace of his thrusts then filled my ass with his jizz.

At 02:00PDT the rains were making streams flow down the sides of the streets. Still very stoned, i said to Tony, "I'm rather hungry again."

"I'm a bit peckish, too," he said. So i made a quick meal by microwaving some frozen burritos with a few diced stalks of asparagus and some Sonoma Jack cheese. After they were heated i added some lettuce, sour cream, SriRacha hot sauce, and mango garlic salsa. We had caramel chocolate cookies for dessert.

Once again i spent many hours in bed, finally waking up around noon. As i was washing the Brita basin and making coffee with Tony, i said, "My brain chemistry must be sort of funny today. It's like i've been asleep for so long, i feel very foggy and i can't quite separate dreams from memories. I think i recall certain conversation or activity... but then i'm not sure whether i'm really remembering, or whether it was just part of some dream." I guess that's not surprising, considering how much of my life i spend asleep lately. I took my usual handfuls of pills then counted a partial amount of the next week's allocations into the compartments of my medication planner; some of my prescriptions were due to be refilled, so a few of the little bins would remain empty until my next trip to Rite-Aid. We listened to Shadowgraphs by Dietrich Schoenemann (Tony gave me that disc years ago before i moved to Washington), then Drum Club Live in Iceland (Shawn gave me that a long time ago when we lived in Vermont).

I tried to recollect some of the images from my dreams, but they quickly evaporated before i could write much. There was one scene in which i'm outside the house on Riverside Drive in Milton where i lived throughout my teen years, and i'm in the backyard on the lawn next to the row of little Scotch pine trees; there is an incredible summer thunderstorm and lightning strikes; i'm rendered utterly deaf by the thunderclap, and i drop to the ground; two or three more bolts of lightning hit very nearby, and i'm amazed that i am not struck by them; unable to hear, and very confused, i'm trying to remember what i should do? should i lie flat on the ground? should i curl up in a ball? i know i definitely should NOT stand up... and there was also a scene from a dream in which my friend Adam Underwood is talking with me, comforting me about something which seems troublesome; we are teenagers again, perhaps we are still in college, we are talking about our friends but the rest of the dreams faded away before i could put them into words.
