Books, music, a good cause ... and a sofa!Calling
all lovers of books and music. Have you spotted the latest addition to
Hereford’s Broad Street? The brand new Oxfam shop specialising in books
and music opened on 1 May, and is already a big hit with customers. While the
long established Oxfam Shop on Eign Gate continues to sell second hand clothing,
bric-a-brac, books, music and videos along with a range of Fair Trade food and
Oxfam new goods, the spanking new shop on Broad Street focuses on selling high
quality used books and music in comfortable, welcoming surroundings.
There’s even a sofa so shoppers can take the weight off their feet whilst
browsing.
Shop Manager Janet Johnson is delighted with customer response so far. “Everyone seems to love our spacious shop with its well ordered shelves and wide range of subjects from general fiction to cookery, academic to children’s. We also sell CDs, vinyl, sheet music and lots of collectables and unusual items. In our very first week we sold a Harry Potter first edition for £200!” As you would expect, all the shop’s profits go towards Oxfam’s work to overcome poverty and suffering. Anyone interested in volunteering in the shop, or donating unwanted books, CDs, DVDs, videos, or vinyl can contact Janet on 01432 279527 or just drop in. You’ll find the new shop next to the Tax Office, two doors along from the library. For further information about Oxfam’s work see www.oxfam.org.uk Posted: Wed - May 23, 2007 at 04:13 pm |
