POLICY
JABA is an independent community newsletter, produced by volunteers, funded by advertising and delivered to around 2000 homes and businesses in the St James and Bartonsham and Portfields areas and towards the centre of Hereford. We make every effort to ensure the accuracy of the information on this site, which is published in good faith. In the case of any errors or omissions, we will do our best to correct them at the first opportunity. We welcome your feedback, suggestions and offers of help to make JABA even more useful, fun and interesting. If you think we have missed anything out, please let us know. We will never pass on your details to any third party or email you without your permission. SITUATIONS VACANT Writers - to help with writing articles for JABA. This need only take a few hours every three months and needs someone with email access and good writing and organisational skills. Any specialist skills you can bring will be welcomed! Distribution We want to add to our numbers - let us know if you think you can help with distribution, a column, collecting information from a specific local group, etc etc PLEASE contact us! JABA - ANNUAL REPORT - for the Community Association AGM on 7 November 2005 Following problems resulting in JABA ceasing production during 2004, 2005 has been a year of significant growth in many ways: - - in pages from 4 to 12 - in new columns and regular writers - in advertisers who fund the paper - in staff: to a team of between 4 and 7 including desktop design, web editor, proof-reading, chasing ads, sub-editing and general editing, not to mention distribution. Someone has recently volunteered to be our Young People's Editor and we are very pleased with this! - in web presence: Tim Ford has done a fantastic job in redesigning the JABA website. It now contains an amazing quantity of local information and further links, all easy to access and find. It is regularly updated as is good practice with websites, and holds a calendar of local events and a debate forum or blog. Worth adding to your favourites and a remembering a weekly visit - or use the RSS facility if you are really up to date! We did not have an August/September edition this year due to a lack of advertising support for the summer period and will bear this in mind in our 2006 planning. We still need someone to co-ordinate distribution, and someone else to chase and build contacts with advertisers and other funders. We would also welcome someone else to share the task of general editing and co-ordination, and we still need more people to help deliver JABA to their street. JABA has made an overall small profit for the Association over the year. Thanks to everyone who has given us encouragement for this community-building venture over the year.
