I formed my own company to help K12 schools integrate technology into the curriculum. I have worked in all of the Area Education Agencies in Iowa. In addition, I have worked with individual school districts in Iowa, Alabama, Alaska, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin as a technology consultant. I have presented at the IASCD/ITEC Conference, the Iowa Educational Media Association Conference, Microsoft's Technology Summit in Washington, and the Missouri Association of School Librarians' Conference.

I worked with teachers to help them integrate technology into their curriculum. I presented at ITEC (Iowa Technology Education Conference), the State Foreign Language Conference, JET/STAR Conference, North Iowa Technology Fair, Midwest Educational Technology Conference (St. Louis), and at Apple Computer's regional technology shows in Tulsa, OK, Wichita, KS, St. Louis, MO, Des Moines, IA, and Kansas City, MO. I presented sessions on Writing Across the Curriculum, Internet Integration, Integrating Technology into the Elementary Curriculum, Copyright and Multimedia, Windows '95, and Microsoft Works and Word. I conducted inservice for many of the AEA's.

I was responsible for the School Library Media Program, including instructional computing for the twenty-four buildings in the District. I worked with the fifty computer contacts and twenty-five media specialists to coordinate and give direction to their programs. I was responsible for the media/technology budget and worked with the building principals to incorporate technology into the curriculum. I was actively involved in designing and implementing a technology high school for the district.

RELATED INFORMATION: I have presented staff development inservice for many school districts on both Macintosh and Windows computers. In addition, I have worked with mobile technologies with several AEA's and individual schools. I have been involved with several districts who have received grants for mobile technology. I offer technology integration support to the school districts within the Cedar Rapids Metro Area. These include Cedar Rapids Area Non-Public Education Systems, Cedar Rapids Community Schools, Iowa City Community Schools, Linn-Mar Community Schools, Marion Independent Schools, and Metro Non-Public School. Working with Mississippi Bend AEA, I was involved in the Curriculum Change Consortium. This project has been supporting teachers as they work to integrate technology into the curriculum for several years. I was the project director for the Iowa CE Laptop Project, a collaborative project between Grant Wood AEA, Cedar Rapids Community Schools, Iowa City Community Schools, and Monticello Community Schools. As a part of this project, students in 5th and 6th grade were given Windows CE devices to use for several years. Teachers in the project were involved in extensive staff development to help them adjust teaching and learning in a wireless environment. I have presented workshops on the Information Literacy Standards for Students and the National Educational Technology Standards for Students throughout the state of Iowa, in Nebraska and Missouri. I am a presenter for Harcourt Connect (formerly Classroom Connect) and have conducted workshops for them throughout the country. During 1998, I taught the Library Automation Systems and Networks class as well as the Educational Media class at the University of Northern Iowa. I was an adjunct instructor in technology for Viterbo College, LaCrosse, Wisconsin for seven years. I continue to teach for Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa and Morningside College, Souix City, IA. As a member of the Iowa Educational Media Association, I was president, nominations chair, Conference Chair for the 1997 State Conference, chair of the Certification and Standards Committee and was Conference Chair for the 1989 State Conference. I was a board member for six years. I was on the steering committee for the Technology Showcase for SAI (School Administrators of Iowa) for two years. I was a member of the Long Range Planning Committee for the American Association for School Librarians. I was a member of the Distance Education Task Force for the Iowa Department of Education. I was a member of the 1994-95 class of L.I.F.T. (Leadership Investment for Tomorrow) of Black Hawk County. I was on the steering committee for the fall of 1994 University of Northern Iowa Institute for Educational Leadership's Working Conference on Internet in the K12 Schools. A monograph from this conference was published in the Spring of 1995. |
