iPhoto
In May, after seven years, I switched from
QuickTime to the iPhoto team. I'm mostly working on the editing features, which
is very cool. As part of work, we regularly go on photo shoots. Here are some
photos of when we went to Stanford
last
week.

Top of the Mark
Yesterday, a bunch of us from work went to the
Top of the
Mark bar after training home. The drinks were
expensive, but the view amazing. These are from my
phone:

Pictures from Heidelberg and Vienna
Well, I've completed my Europe 2005 pictures with
these from Vienna and
Heidelberg.
Vienna was lots of fun, as I visited with Spike and Nina and my friend Marc's
brother Andrew and his
parents.

Crissy Field
One of my favorite spots in San Francisco is
Crissy Field, down by the Golden Gate Bridge. Its beautiful, parking is easy,
and there is lots to see. Today, it was very windy, so there were lots of
windsurfers out. See my photos here.

Pictures from Amsterdam
After some time, I've finally taken some time to
sort and edit pictures that I took while in Europe in September 2005. I edited
the pictures in Aperture, and then brought them into iPhoto to export to html.
The workflow isn't too bad.The first
set is Amsterdam.
Heidelberg and Vienna are coming
soon.

Mom's visit to San Francisco
Mom came out to visit me in San Francisco. We
had a nice visit, even though it rained a lot. Here are some
photos from our dinner with our cousin
Ditka.

Visited Countries
Kim points out a site where one can list and
color countries one has been to. Pretty cool. Too bad They don't have one just
for Hong Kong, since its a little misleading to count all of
China. For
the US, it looks something like this. Not sure if driving to Florida counts as
visiting, but we did stop in a few
places:

Mavericks 2006
This morning, I played hooky for a few hours and
stopped by the Mavericks surf break in Half Moon Bay to take a few pictures
before work. I checked out a few new vantage points, and another photographer
let me use his 500mm lens for a bit. I haven't finished sorting through the
photos (in Aperture) but so far, this is one of my
favorites: More

Aperture
Over the holidays, I borrowed a 17" Powerbook so
I'd be able to try out and learn Aperture. First impressions are really good as
far as photo editing and manipulation, and sorting. I'm less happy with the
ability to label the photos with captions and comments. I was able to export
using a modified theme based on the theme that I use for my iPhoto photos and
this blog. I made both a photo
gallery and a photo
journal, from a few pictures taken while up in Napa.

Back from Europe
I'm back from Europe, and trying to reorganize
and get my photos up there. Lots of updates; as I haven't yet uploaded pictures
from Montreal, San Diego, Vancouver or Amsterdam / Heidelberg / Vienna either.
And I also got a new lens for my Canon 20D, the 70-300DO IS USM. It's very nice
and compact.
Good news, though, is that
.mac has updated its storage to 1 GB, so I now have lots more space for photos
online. I also just got a copy of Photoshop CS2, so I'll have even more fun
with pics.
Watch here for
updates.

White Water Rafting
Thai Wey and Tracia organized a trip for a bunch
of people to the middle fork of the American River, just outside Auburn. Sean
and I went up together and crashed up there, which really beat getting up at
3:30 am. We had great weather and great water. Pictures here.

Mavericks Surfing Competition
Mavericks is a reef break off Half Moon Bay that
spawns 25'+ waves a couple of times a season during the winter. An annual
competition is held with 24 hours notice for pro surfers -- and this year, I was
able to go. Jesse and I went out at 7:30 am to check out the surf and swells.

Tahoe weekend
I visited with Bob and Yvette up at Lake Tahoe,
where I hung out and snowboarded and skied. ON the way home, I stopped to visit
John, Christina and Connor in Tracy, where we went to Connor's basketball game.

Better pictures...
Well, human error had me not filtering my jpegs
during web exports, so they didn't look right, especially with the new camera.
I also took this opportunity to make the default size 800x600 instead of
640x480. All of you need to get bigger displays
anyway!New photos of San
Francisco, Mom's Birthday
and Montreal.
