Brian Kubach - Alex Thomas
Brian came out of no where at our audition and completely blew us away. We had a lot of great candidates come out and read for "Alex", but Brian took the character in a different direction than anyone else. We absolutely loved it and it ultimately got him the part.

"Alex" was written as the romantic hero who doesn't always succeed but his heart is in the right place. Even if his head is buried in a comic book. What wasn't written was that Brian turned out to be the perfect "straight guy" in the comedy duo of "Alex and Leroy".

Brian has been acting since he was a kid and it really shows. He brings a professionalism to the set that was refreshing and not something we were entirely ready for.  Brian recently decided to move out to Los Angeles to work professionally as an actor.

Lucy Finley - Beth Greene
Lucy works with me at my day job. In fact, I was one of her trainers. It was during that training period, that I got to know Lucy and her appreciation for movies. A day wouldn't go by that she would quote some movie that was one of my favorites. When the time came to cast "Beth", I knew who I wanted. It didn't take long to convince everyone else that she was perfect for the role.

"Beth" is a hopeless romantic who falls in love very easily. She's also way more into comic books than any woman really is - except for my wife, that is.

This is Lucy's first acting performance, and if this is any judge of her abilities, it won't be her last.

Nancy Fletcher - Shelby White
"Shelby" was one of our hardest characters to cast. We needed someone friendly, someone who could act like she was best friends with a total stranger, and someone willing to dress like a stripper. We lucked out when Nancy said she'd do it.

Everyone on the cast and crew was reliable, but Nancy would take that extra step every time. On time, every time, even if she had to drive all the way across town for a 15 minute shoot.

I can't wait to start our next project, and whatever that might be, I'm hoping we'll be lucky enough to have Nancy in our cast again.

Bryan Jalovec - Leroy
"Leroy" is an amalgamation of my Id, and the personalities of several of my close friends. Except that Leroy is a multi-millionaire and has vocal diarrhea - whatever he thinks goes right to his mouth with no censor. Bryan was able to pull all that off and then some.

Bryan has been acting in the Cleveland area for years and really knows his stuff. Always willing to offer suggestions, but not in a way that makes you think he's trying to take over, you know? He just wants the best possible scene. Even if that means getting beaten with oven mitts over and over again.

If Bryan will have us, he'll be appearing in one of our future projects called "Letter from a Foxhole".

Markus Benn - Markus
What can I say about Markus? The real life version really does own and operate Ground Zero Comics in Strongsville, Ohio. He's there each and every week with my pull list and ready to talk comics, or movies, or whatever. He's also never acted before and I think he did a pretty good job, even though he won't watch the DVD I gave him of the scenes he's in.

He also left me alone in the store while we were filming one day. Now that's trust. Cause anyone who knows me, would know that's like giving the gun to the baby.

Originally I was going to play the character of "Markus" but figured I'd let the real one step i since he's been Markus for much longer than I have. And after seeing myself in the one scene that I am in, I realize that I suck as an actor.

Cliff Zody - Jeff Cox
"Jeff" is an ass. While still writing "Fanboy", I asked Cliff to play the part of "Jeff" because I knew he could play a jerk and we were originally going to cast friends and family as characters. That was before it got to be so big and we knew we needed real actors. We kept Cliff, anyway.

Cliff is also my brother, in the truest sense of the term. I also place my Co-Director, Scott, in this category. I would literally do anything for him, and I know he would do the same for me without question. Heck, I did THIS to him and he still lets me in his house.

Tyson Rand - Dooley
Tyson is a local legend in this here town. We've met up with a whole bunch of actors for theater and film, and it seems that everyone knows Tyson. Which is easy to see cause he's a not only a really funny guy, a genuinely nice guy, but a great actor, too.

Tyson also brought a little, dare I say it, class, to our sets. He plays "Alex"'s cranky boss to a "T", ugly vegetable tie and all. In fact, just for a laugh, we were going to have "Dooley" wearing fishnet stockings and high heels - just to get that "what the hell?" moment from the audience. We nixed it, but when I asked him what size women's shoe he wore, he came back (a little too quickly) with 10 Wide. That's how much the man loves his craft.

Andrew Miller - Comic Book Convention Attendee
We didn't have many auditions for the enthusiastic comic book show attendee, but when Andrew read his lines with the most perfect lisp and hyper-excitement (He also memorized all his lines before-hand - very impressive) that we barely held our laughter back long enough to tell him he had the part.

Regrettably, we only had Andrew on set for one day, but for someone as young as he is, to have that kind of professionalism and commitment, he's not going to have problems getting onto other sets. Hopefully he'll be on ours again, soon.

Tom Luhtala - Video Store Manager
Tom has a very integral part in the film. One might say he's the catalyst to get the conflict rolling, so without him, the story would go no where. Some might also say, "He's got one line, and it's only 5 words!" Calm down!

We met Tom while working on our Green Lantern project when we needed some props built. Tom normally works his magic on fiberglass, pneumatic servos, and fake blood and gore. But he took time out of his busy schedule to be an actor in "Fanboy". Don't believe me? Check out the un-cropped original picture he sent when I asked for a picture of him for the site.

Ok, here's my sappy part - when we first met Tom, it was just for props. But we got a true friend out of the deal. All together now: Awww....
