¬†Here they are, sorry it's so late uploading them. Between the arm, the kids, and my desktop computer eating all my blog data, it's just been tough.

First, the earth-tone sampler.

Next, it's the all batik sampler, I made two of the six-inch block

Lastly, it's the black batik. Four blocks, all the same (like always) just in a different color every month.

Hopefully I'll get the May blocks sewn this weekend, assuming I can use my rotary cutter without cutting off a finger. ;)

I had to really struggle to do these. February I was just one handed. March, I was one handed and super stressed. lol

Okay, the sampler first. This month's fabrics:

Also, before my life imploded, I signed up to do a 3-block a month BOM all batik that started this month. Every month there will be 2 6" blocks and 1 12" block, all scrappy batik. Here are this month's fabrics, separated by block:

I'm hoping I can sew again before the April blocks are due to be turned in the first weekend of May. lol

January BOM's

Doing two Block-of-the-Month quilts this year (actually three, but I'll get to that in a min) because I signed up to do them before my life went wonky.

The two current quilts are a warm-toned sampler from Quilt Junction and an all-the-same-block batik from Creekside Quilting. There's a batik sampler coming up from Quilter's Cupboard, but not till March. Hopefully I'll have real sewing space by then.

Anyway, the warm sampler has 24 regular blocks, 2 matching blocks in different colors each month, and 24 setting squares. The quilt shop provides the fabric for the colored portion of the regular blocks, but we have to provide the background fabric for the entire quilt plus the colored fabric for the setting squares. I used the Nancy Crow fabric provided for last year's Making Tracks quilt (which I substituted with an off-white batik) as the brown, and bought a Moda red and a Moda marble for the whole background.

February's blocks are bear's claw blocks. I'll try to show them as soon as I sew them.

For the batik quilt at Creekside, they're supplying 2 batiks each month and a pice of non-batik dark-green fabric for the backgrounds. I've substituted the green with a black-with-blue-undertones batik (I think it's Hoffman 1896 but I'm not sure, I just know I have pretty big piece of it here at home). They've also set the pattern up to be one 12-inch block, sort of like a spiky pinwheel, but I'm going to keep them as single 6-inch blocks and will set them randomly on point, I think, since each block will be the same except for color.

Anyway, here's the batik block for January:

February's block will be with purple and a hot magenta-red. Should be pretty on the black!

Apparently you can watch all you want for free, but they have 2 membership levels that add in freebies like patterns, BOM's etc.

A few people have emailed or commented lately about the status of quilts. I'm sorry to say that housework isn't the only thing falling behind here. But, in a fabric fueled fervor, I sewed on Sunday, finishing up the Making Tracks blocks month nine and ten (along with one other block).

First, the fabrics:

Two more months to go in this block of the month project. The blocks for the black batik quilt are finished and I've begun work on the borders. There's not much interesting to show at this point though, just a pile of fabric strips.

On sunday, I also sewed a breast cancer awareness block that I picked up during the shop hop a few weeks ago:

This block I'll return to Quilter's Cupboard to donate to the national Quilt Pink project.

After five and a half hours, 125.3 miles, half a tank of gas, and seven quilt shops, I've survived the Central Iowa Shop Hop! And, for the very first time since I started Shop Hopping several years ago, I could finally afford to buy something at every shop! Woohoo! Each shop had free patterns and refreshments, double Woo Hoo!!. So, in order, I went to...

Quilter's Cupboard in Ankeny - got a couple of fat quarters, a Quilt Pink Day quilt block, and the Fall 2006 issue of Quilts and More magazine.

Quilting Connection in Ames - some more fat quarters, two tea towels, and Art to Heart's Happy Holidays To You pattern book.

Adel Quilting & Dry Goods - 3 more fat quarters

Quilt Express in West Des Moines - a purse pattern with interchangeable inside pockets.

Quilt Junction in Valley Junction, West Des Moines (my favorite quilt shop!) - four pieces of blue/green cotton yardage and two tea towels

Quilt Block, also in Valley Junction - a half yard of a new black batik and two fat quarters.

Creekside Quilting in Clive, a set of three snowmen ornaments by Heartwood Creek.

Batiking #12

This is the last set of blocks for this quilt. I get border fabric in September and, hopefully, will get the top finished.

I still haven't been able to lay out the whole thing at my mothers - she's been staying with a sick friend for most of the summer. Hopefully I'll get a chance to audition layouts before I have to construct the full top.

We're making little blocks again this month. First, the fabrics:

I usually lay them all out at my mom's - our living room floor doesn't have enough open space - but she's been gone so I haven't been able to lay them all out. Hopefully next month. Along with five more little blocks, I'm supposed to get border fabric in August, too, and will soon have the entire quilt top put together.
