I mentioned a new give away quilt on tamboblog a few weeks back and thought I'd show the progress of it here. The quilt I'm going to do is in the April 2006 issue of McCalls Quilting (the issue with the rainbow of stacked fabrics on the cover - I think it's still on sale now). The quilt is Bloomin' Rose on pp 36-38 with the pattern pieces on page 90, and it's raw-edge applique. I've asked tamboblog readers if they'd prefer tans or blacks for a scrappy background on a give away quilt, and they've voted for black, so mine will be black with bright jewel tones. I'm going to do 45 blocks, cut on the diagonals, and I'm planning on making 3 wall-quilts from that for three prizes, two for tamboblog and one for here. At least that's the plan right now.

You can see a pic of the quilt here if you're interested in following along or making one, too. I'm planning on starting on or around the first week of April. If you want to do one too - and share pics - I can send you a copy of the instructions, just promise to give credit to the pattern maker or McCalls.

It looks like a fairly easy and quick pattern, and it should be cute (plus use up some of my stash! lol)
