Window

Position of Windows

There are two ways to display newly opened windows. One is to open windows at various position, and the other is to open new window over the main window. You can choose the way to display windows with the preference.

Large windows are displayed up to the edge of the screen. But, they often obstruct the operation to the Dock. Using Preferences panel, you can specify margin to left, right, and bottom edges of the screen, where windows are not displayed.

Scaling

Specifying scale using popup list of each window, you can display enlarged or shrunk image. Besides, you can directly type enlarge/shrink ratio (percentage) into the popup list. You can customize the contents of the popup list (see Window Position).

Note that image data itself is not modified when it is resized in the window. If you want to make a resized new image, use "Operation / Resize...", which is described in "Image Operation".

Resizing by dragging operation

You can resize the image in any ratio you like by dragging operation. Double-click on the image, then five blinking marks appears. You can enlarge or shrink the image by dragging marks at the corners. The mark at the center is used to enlarge the image.

Marks disappear in a few seconds. You can turn off them soon by double-clicking.

Resizing by gestures

With pinch-in or pinch-out gestures on an image, you can resize (magnify) it. This feature is available on Mac OS X 10.6 or later with a multi-touch trackpad or a Magic Mouse.

Auto-Resizing

When an image whose size is larger than the screen is displayed, ToyViewer can shrink it automatically. You can set whether large images are shrunk or not using the menu "Window / Auto-Resizing" or "Window Position" part of Preferences panel.

Display in Full-Screen

Clicking the full-screen button placed on each window, you can display the image in full-screen. You can also use "Full-Screen / Display in Full-Screen" of the menu, or context menu.

Click the full-screen window to return to the ordinary window.

Style of display shows various methods to display images in full-screen.

Display Previous/Next Window

With "Windows / Display Next Window", or "Windows / Display Previous Window" (Cmd-0, Cmd-9) of the menu, next or previous window is sent front. Combination of Fix mode described in "Position of Windows" and this facility could be convenient to compare two images.

You can make new image by applying some operation or effect. The window with the original image is called "the parent window" of newly displayed window. With "Windows / Display Parent Window" (Cmd-8) of the menu, the parent window of the current window is sent front, if it exists.

Display All Windows

If you click "Windows / Display All Windows" of the menu, all windows are displayed in front one after another. Click the menu again to interrupt.

Interval time is set by the preference panel.

Close All Windows

With "Windows / Close All Windows" (Cmd-Shift-W) of the menu, you can close all image windows at once. However, windows with checked remark buttons are not closed. See below.

Remark Button

A small check button on the lower right corner of each window is "Remark Button".

After many windows are displayed, you can close all of them with the operation "Close All Windows". However, only windows whose remark buttons are checked are not closed automatically.

Using the feature "Scan Folder", you can show images one after another, and windows once displayed are closed automatically. Also in this feature, windows whose remark button is checked are not closed automatically.

Information Field

Each window has a text field in which the information about the image is written. The information includes the dimension, the depth of the color (bit-depth), the size of the file, the date, the comment associated by the user, etc.

Though small windows can't display long text, if you keep the mouse cursor on the text field, the information will be displayed as "Tool Tips". To see all the information, and edit the comment, use the Inspector panel.

Display in Front-Mode

If you click the zoom button of the window, or if you select "Windows / Display in Front-Mode" of the menu (or Cmd-Alt-Z), the main window is displayed in front of all other windows. If the image is larger than the screen, it would be displayed in full-screen. This style of display is called "Front-Mode".

When more than one images are displayed, the current main window is displayed in front of all other windows. If the dimension of the image displayed is larger than the screen, dragging on the window would move the image. During front mode, you can't select area.

In order to cancel Front-Mode, double-click the main window, or type Cmd-Alt-Z. Or, if all windows are closed, Front-Mode is automatically canceled.

Clicking the right button of the mouse (or Control-Clicking) displays a popup menu on the image. The menu has the menu item "Front Mode", with which you can also toggle Front-Mode.

Hide All Windows and Applications

If you click the menu "Full-Screen / Hide All Windows", all other applications are hidden, and all windows of ToyViewer are also hidden. That is, no window is displayed on the screen.
