Clicking "File / Scan Folder..." of the menu, you can select a folder to scan image files in it. Image files are displayed automatically using a control panel.

But, if there is only one file in the folder, the file is displayed as usual and the control panel does not appear.
If the button "Full Screen" on the drawer is not checked, each image is displayed on an ordinary window.
In order to start auto-display, click "Start" button on the panel. Then, image files in the folder displayed automatically at regular intervals. "Pause" button stops auto-display. Interval time can be set by the text field on the drawer. You can also chose the image file with the slider on the panel.
There are 4 buttons on the panel to show images manually, not automatically. 2 buttons inside are used to show images one by one. "Fast Forward" and "Rewind" shows 4 images at once.
As new images are displayed, windows of previous images are closed automatically. But, windows whose remark button is checked are not closed automatically.

ToyViewer can display in full-screen not only one image, but also two images side by side. Besides, the direction of the line of images can be both from left to right, and from right to left. Therefore, four modes are provided to display in full-screen. The difference of the direction affects the layout of two images and the movement of animation.
Left to Right (L to R) modes are suitable for displaying images include English or other European text. Right to Left (R to L) modes are suitable for displaying Japanese manga or images include text written from right to left.
The shape of the mouse cursor changes according to its position. On the right side of the screen, it becomes a right arrow (

) on the left side. The width of the left area and the right area is different according to the display mode.
While auto-play is going on, a mouse click changes the play mode to step mode. During step mode, a mouse click displays the next image or the previous image.

On Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or later, you can give the same instruction to ToyViewer by sliding horizontally two fingers on the trackpad or on the Magic mouse, that is, the scroll operations.
Additionally, on Mac OS X 10.6 or later, you can make "Fast Forward" or "Rewind" by swiping horizontally with three fingers.
With the default setting, like the ordinary scrolling operations, images on the screen move to the opposite direction of the fingers. Using the preferences panel, you can make the movement reverse, like the dragging operations. You can also disable the gesture operations.
