ToyViewer (Ver.5.03)

Preferences

General

"Display All Windows" specifies the interval to show all windows. See "Display All Windows".

The number of items in "Open Recent" of the menu can be specified.

With checking the button "Treat file packages as folders", you can see the contents of file packages such as "*.app" with the open panel.

ToyViewer provides various operations and visual effects for images. For some of them, such as rotation, you would repeat the operation with changing the parameters to get better result. If the button "Avoid applying the same operation more than once" is not checked, you might repeatedly apply the operation to the result of the previous operation. If the button is checked, a repeated operation is not applied to the result of the same operation, but to the source image of the operation. Note that some operations are not affected by the state of the button, because applying them repeatedly might be meaningful.

Draw with interpolation

If the button "Draw with interpolation" is checked, enlarged raster images are displayed smoothly with interpolation. The image data itself isn't affected.

Formats

As concerns each image format, refer to "Photo CD", "PNG", or "Bitmap Images, Vector Images, and PICT Format".

About button "Make ToyViewer defalut application at once...", refer to "Image Formats that ToyViewer can Display".

Selection

Option-Dragging (or Alt-Dragging) on the image selects a square area. With the preferences panel, you can specify other proportions for Option-dragging. On the other hand, selection with shift-Dragging steps 4 pixels at a time. With the preferences panel, you can specify other step width for Shift-dragging (See Dragging).

When you select a part of an image, by default, the origin of the coordinate system is at the bottom left corner of the image. Another coordinate system is also available, in which the origin is at the upper left corner. You can select one of them using Preferences panel (See Coordinate System).

Gesture

Refer to "Operations by Gestures" of Section "Scan Folder".

Colors

Color specified by "Background Color of Full-Screen Window" is used as described in "Styles of Display" of Full-Screen and "Display Images in Full-Screen" of Scan Folder.

On the subject of alpha or transparent color, refer to "Transparent Color" of Colors and Transparency.

Window Position

There are two ways to display newly opened windows. One is to open windows at various position (Automatic), and the other is to open new window over the main window (Fix). You can also choose third way in which Fix method is used only when a folder is auto-scanned.

If you select Fix mode, a small panel as shown on the right is displayed to specify the top left corner of windows.

Large windows are displayed up to the edge of the screen. But, they often obstruct the operation to the Dock. Therefore, you can specify margin to left, right, and bottom edges of the screen, where windows are not displayed. Check the buttons corresponding to directions (left, right, or bottom) that you want to put margin. Margin is specified in pixels.

You can customize the contents of the scaling popup list, which is at the right bottom of each window.

You can also specify whether images larger than the screen are shrunk automatically or not.

Resize according to the resolution

Some images in TIFF, JPEG, PNG, or PICT have embedded information on resolution. If the button "Resize according to the resolution" is checked, images with higher resolution are displayed smaller.

ToyViewer thinks of the resolution 72dpi as the ratio 100%. An image with X dpi is displayed in the ratio of 72/X. Therefore, an image with 144dpi is displayed in the size of 50%.

On the window of the shrunk image, the resize ratio is displayed as "144dpi". In case of 72dpi, however, the ratio is displayed as "100%". If you input "300dpi", the image is resized as if its resolution is 300dpi. Note that the embedded resolution isn't modified.
