Transparent Color

Transparent parts are displayed in white or black. You can select white or black with the preferences. But, transparent parts of pdf or eps is always displayed in white.

If the option is turned on, images with transparent colors are displayed on transparent windows. You can set the option on Preference panel. Right-clicking (or Control-clicking) shows a popup menu (context menu) on the image. With this menu, you can temporarily switch on/off the transparency of the window.

With the "Color" section of the inspector also, you can change the background of an image with transparent area. You can select colors other than black and white. See "Color Inspector".

Color Profile

In general, color management is the controlled conversion between the color representations of various devices, such as digital cameras, monitors, and printers. A color profile is a set of data that characterizes such digital devices for color management. Some digital cameras embeds a color profile data into each photo image data.

ToyViewer can show the name of the color space and the color profile of an image using the "Color" section of the inspector panel.

Some operations that ToyViewer provides, such as clipping, flipping, enlargement, shrinking, etc. can keep the original color profile. Currently, only jpg and tiff can save the color profile and the image data together.

Color Well

On tool panels and Preferences panel of ToyViewer, there are several color wells, which are used to specify color. As ordinary applications, you can display the Color panel by clicking a color well.

Besides, color wells of ToyViewer show the value of the color currently displayed in hexadecimal numbers of RGB or grayscale. You can select and copy the numbers. It would be useful to describe HTML documents.
