After
coming back from traveling around the world earlier than expect
in March 2002 I wanted to do something, but I didn't quite know
what. As a family we have been going down to Cornwall every summer
for about eight years and because I didn't used to like long car
journeys (it is about 250 miles) I said I was going to cycle down.
Along
the same lines I read about a few formula 1 drivers who cycled from
John O Groats to Lands End (JOG to LE) and I decided that
I wanted to do the same thing. So I did. In the summer of 2002 I
cycled about 900 miles (then in 2003 I cycled the same distance
with my Dad)
If
you every think about doing it please read Lance Armstrongs book
'Its not about the Bike', I really could not have done it the first
time without it (you have to be a little fit as well). When
I first did it there was no web site that I could find that gave
you any information about doing this famous route, so if you have
the desire to do it please contact me and I will help as much as
I can (including a list of places I stayed every night).
I have
published my diary from 2002 and 2003 below, please read and comments
are welcome to t.white@mac.com.
I have just put on-line a video of the still pictures that I took
on the bike ride in 2003. The video is quite large but is well worth
it I think, you can view it by going to the
Video Archive section of the site.
