OASYS
KORG OASYS is the dream project that aimed to integrate all known synthesis engines -
physical modelling, virtual analog, FM, PCM, Vector, Wavesequence.
It never came out because of the cost.
MOSS - Prophecy and Z1 inherited the multiple synthesis concept,
and Trinity borrowed the design of OASYS.

Later, OASYS incarnated in the form of a PCI card - OASYS PCI.
Vector and Wavesequence seems to be omitted.
OASYS PCI ver 2.0 has Triton's samples,
and it can be seen as one-board integration of Triton and Z1.

Prophecy
KORG Prophecy is the first synth with MOSS architecture.
It's a monophonic synth with a novel controllers like ribbon-controller-wheel and
the keyboard that actually goes deeper when aftertouch is used.
Wave Shape section is Prophecy's advantage over Z1 -
any oscillator types can be processed with Wave Shape.
Later this monophonic version of MOSS was repackaged as MOSS-TRI expansion board
for KORG TRINITY workstation synth.

Polyphonic MOSS
MOSS became polyphonic with Z1. Z1 can be upgraded to 18-polyphonic.
The 6-polyphonic version of MOSS was first integrated in Trinity V3 series in 1998.
EXB-MOSS DSP Synthesizer Board is 6-polyphonic expansion
for KORG TRITON / KARMA.

MS2000
MS2000 is a 4-polyphonic Virtual Analog synthesizer that may be related to MOSS.
It has less features - only VA, but DWGS waveforms are added
(Digital Wave Generator System from DW-8000 and later KORG PCM synths).
The modulation capability is increased with Virtual Patch and Modulation Sequence.

Physical Modelling / Virtual Analog
There are very few competitors for KORG's MOSS.
Though there are many Virtual Analogs, Virtual Acoustics, FM that even excels MOSS,
there are very few that integrates them in one package.
YAMAHA EX is one such attempt for integration.
It has PCM,
AN (YAMAHA's virtual analog - see AN200 page),
VL (Virtual acoustic), and FDSP (various DSP effects).
Unlike MOSS, EX's oscillator does not interact with other -
different synthesis engine can't be combined with modulation.

YAMAHA EX5 (1998)
Applied Acoustic Systems Tassman is another to integrate Virtual Acoustic with other synthesis.
It's a modular synthesizer, and is much more capable.
