KORG Z1
Z1_JX SoundDiver editor
Z1_JX Editor
This is a Z1 Editor for
Emagic SoundDiver.
You need Emagic SoundDiver to use this editor.
This editor emulates the editing experience of Roland JX.
It's made for editing, and of course, there's no patch compatibility with JX.
Download the Z1_JX adaptation: z1jx.sit (8KB).
See the readme file for details.

About this adaptation
I made this adaptation with Z1, SoundDiver 3.0.5.2 and Mac OS 9.1,
but it will work with other versions and platforms.
It may not work with EXB-MOSS DSP Synthesizer Board for KORG TRITON / KARMA,
but they may have something in common.
Please tell me if you can try editing EXB-MOSS with SoundDiver.
Load the initialized data (initz1jx.lib) into Z1, and start editing from here.
Put the cursor on the parameter, and the parameter name is displayed.
Be sure to use SoundDiver's Request function before storing the sound,
or the edited data will be lost.
The edited patch can be saved in the Virtual Bank area that is not related to Z1's internal memory.
Once you saved the data and closed the editing window, the parameter would not be displayed correctly.
This adaptation works like a programmer like Roland PG-200 / PG-800 -
only to control the parameters and not to be used to display them.
If you find any problems, or if you find something with it, please let me know.
Why JX?
First I thought of emulating some analog synths' editing interface,
as Z1 has too many parameters.
Then I went on to emulate JX's interface because it's the easiest for Z1.
Since basically Z1's VA is like analog only feature-wise, and not like analog sound-wise,
the emulation could be done in terms of synthetic features, but not of sounds.
Many good analog synths like SCI Prophet-5 has distinct features
like Filter-FM that Z1 does not have.
Roland JX is the most capable analog synth that can be emulated with Z1.
This is just a trial to make a new user interface for Z1,
and there would be more ways to conceive of other interfaces.
The Architecture
The Z1_JX editor has the following features;
2 Oscillators with SUB OSC and Noise
XMOD for OSC1
SYNC for OSC2
LPF / HPF
The PULSE waveform of JX is absent.
There are also added/extended features that JX does not have;
SUB OSC
Resonant LPF with LFO modulation
2nd LFO
JX's OSC Mix Balance parameter is emulated by independent volume modulation
EQ and Delay
