KORG Z1
Overview

Voice Architecture

Z1's voice is made from 2 MOSS oscillators, 1 Sub OSC and Noise, processed by 2 multi-mode filters and up to 3 effects with EQ.
The Noise can be colored with a dedicated multi-mode filter.

There are 13 oscillator types. The basic analog waveforms are in most cases limited to SAW/SQR/TRI/SIN with 'Edge' controllable.
In some types, the sound can be modulated by several Input Sources - other oscillators, noise, filter outputs.
When some Virtual Accoustic types (Brass/Reed/Plucked String/Bowed String) are used, OSC2 is not available.

There are many modulation/control sources; 5 EGs and 4 LFOs, knobs, X-Y Pad and arpeggiator, etc., though the matrix modulation is not present.
The Unison mode can stack 2/3/6 voices at once.

The Multi Oscillator types

Standard OSC
PWM-able Square/Saw wave - both Triangle and Sine waves can be mixed. The output can be modulated by Wave Shape - seems to be inherited from KORG 01/W's Waveshaping.
COMB Filter OSC
Makes sound by feedback delay of Input Sources and Impulse signal, etc. Feedback and High Damp parameter modifies the character and brightness of the sound.

VPM OSC
VPM seem to stand for Variable Phase Modulation, and it's basically the same synthesis with FM (see YAMAHA DX7, DX7II page) and related to PD (see CASIO CZ page).
There are 2 'operators' with feedback. The Carrier has 4 waveforms. The 4 waveforms as well as Input Sources can be used as the Modulator.
The sound can be further processed by Wave Shape.
Resonance OSC
Makes sound by processing the Input Sources by 4 independent resonant BPFs.
Ring Modulation OSC
The Carrier wave (SAW/SQU/TRI/SIN) is ring modulated by the Input Sources. The modulation depth can be controlled.
Cross Modulation OSC
The Carrier wave (SAW/SQU/TRI/SIN) is cross modulated by the Input Sources. The modulation depth can be controlled.
Sync Modulation OSC
The Slave wave (SAW/SQU/TRI/SIN) is Synced to the Input Sources's pitch.
Organ Model
Made of 3 Drawbars. One Drawbar has a waveform (SIN1/SIN2/SIN3/TRI), coupled with a decayed Percussion.
Electric Piano Model
Emulates EP with Hammer, Click, Overtone, Pickup position and Low EQ parameters.
Brass Model
Emulates Brass with Instrument Type, Pressure, Noise, Lip, Bell and Peaking EQ parameters.
Reed Model
Emulates Reed with Instrument Type, Pressure, Noise, Wave Shape and Peaking EQ parameters.
Plucked String Model
Emulates plectrums with Attack, Noise, Damping, String Position, Dispersion (string hardness), Harmonics, Pickup, and Low EQ parameters.
Bowed String Model
Emulates strings with Bow Speed, Pressure, Rosin, Damping, String Position, Dispersion (string hardness), Reflection, and Peaking EQ parameters.
