YAMAHA DX7II Series
New SoundDiver Editor

DXII Editor

This is a DX7II Series editor for Emagic SoundDiver. You need Emagic SoundDiver to use this editor.

This editor makes editing easier by using a new, simplified synthesis architecture. It's another attempt to create new user interfaces for DX (See DX7 page).

Download DXII adaptation: tx802.sit (4KB). See the readme file for details.

About this adaptation

I made this adaptation with TX802, SoundDiver 3.0.5.2 and Mac OS 9.1, but it will work with other versions and platforms.
Please tell me if you can test it with other DX7II Series.

Load the initialized data (initdxii.lib) into DX7II, and start editing from here.
Put the cursor on the parameter, and the parameter name is displayed.

Be sure to use SoundDiver's Request function before storing the sound, or the edited data will be lost.
The edited patch can be saved in the Virtual Bank area that is not related to DX7II's internal memory.

If you find any problems, or if you find something with it, please let me know.

The New Synthesis Architecture

The DXII makes DX7II Series as 1DCO / 1Sub OSC Digital Synthesizer.

The Oscillator is composed by 3 Operators: Carrier, Modulator 1 and Modulator 2.
The Main Oscillator has a Feedback function.
Feedback Mode 3: Modulator 2 feeds back itself.
Feedback Mode 4: The Carrier feeds back the Modulator.
The Sub OSC shares the settings with the Main OSC.
The Sub OSC has no Feedback.
It can be detuned against the Main OSC.
Amplitude EG controls the Carriers.
Modulator EG controls all Modulators.
Detune Parameters for the Carriers are applied to the Modulators 2 as well.
